Footage from the Ultimate Track Car Challenge, the weekend before Optima Charlotte. Here is the edited video of my fastest official lap, I ran a 2:08 but was disqualified because I put two wheels off the track on an earlier lap in that session. I hope you can view it, let me know if you have any trouble.

This is what drag racing on wet grass looks like.
There was zero traction.

You did good!!

I've been taking a break and fixing some broken parts all while re engineering some, but I've been working on Video from the events this summer. First up is the same video from UTCC as I posted before only this time with Speed and G force overlays. When you watch the video, look at the g-meter and my keychain, they are in sync! LOL, enjoy!

ok, so here's a video from the Optima Challenge Autocross portion in Charlotte. Literally the worst autocross course I've ever driven! My steering could not keep up with all the 180 deg switch backs, I ended up 15th so apparently the other cars managed it ok. Still working on the UTCC telemetry video, I think it may be to big for photobucket, working on getting it on YouTube.

Updates! I'm coming back out of hiding for all the winter project updates. After Optima in Charlotte I needed to take a break on car stuff (according to my wife). Now I'm back on all the winter projects. After Charlotte I found I had broken both rear shocks off at the tip on the last session of the hot laps. Other than that, nothing else was broken! Now I have some time to work on my "nice to do" list instead of "I gotta make the next race" list. Since both shocks were broken in the same place I decided it was time to re-engineer the whole coilover setup in the rear. I never really liked it to begin with and I've been wanting to go inboard for a long time, so I finally took the time to start actually doing it. Here's some shots of what I have so far.

back to the drawing board...

some new parts cut out and welded together for the rockers

All mocked up and ready to slide into the trunk area under the package tray.

Push rods installed and clearences made to clear the frame and get into the trunk.

It all looks good and the tire has plenty of clearance on the inside inner fender. Next up is to pull it all back out and finish welding and paint the assembly. while it's out I'll finish out the notched frame rails and clean that area up, and also add some support to it since I cut it out. Other plans for the winter are to add an L88 style hood with the front section vented for the radiator and a few other odds and ends. I have to buy a new helmet and shoes this year too, that cuts into the car parts monetary fund. I also picked up an LS2 6.0 block that I want to build a stroker motor with. I found out real quick that if I want to really run with the big dogs I'm gonna need a bigger motor! Stay tuned!
