I've sold most of my stuff too. Besides, those Garand's are way too heavy, crappy wood, and ya can't hit the broad side of a barn with them.

The NRA should be careful in supporting anything of the sort.

Lets not forget, we are told Lanza tried several times to buy firearms. The system in place did its job and denied him.

Wouldn't a Universal Background Check be basically the same thing as a National Registry?

Yes, that's what I was trying to say.

That's going to make some waves within the bureaucracy.

Here's another "outsiders" opinion that hasn't forgotten lessons of history.

I still think -- that in the end -- no laws are going to protect anyone nor prevent anyone from murdering another human. How many they murder depends on how well they plan it. But no "law" is going to prevent them.

I don't think a normal mind can possibly comprehend the criminally insane mind. WE just don't think that way.

We can't explain it -- I don't think we can stop it -- and, while we don't want to -- I think we just have to accept that from time to time bad stuff happens.

Perhaps I've said the Serenity Prayer too often... it's that last line of the first verse....

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

I'm starting to think that this all about getting Americans to unarm Americans.

Everyone loves to push their own agenda on someone else... tree huggers -- liberals -- the religious right -- you name it - they want everyone to be just like them. So I agree Vince -- it's more about "US vs THEM" than anything.
