New shop at my house

Ok back on track lol. Started a new job this week so I've been slammed with getting up to speed.

We are ready for inspection 2 for shear, framing, and roof sheeting which will happen this afternoon. The framers did an awesome job ensuring everything was as tight and crisp as possible. Now it's my turn to get up there and roof this pig. Good thing it's 107*! Harness up!

Looks great! It is very much like a bit smaller version of mine. What are the outside dimensions of it again?

And how tall is the peak of the roof on the ends?

Mine is about 25' tall and I had to do a ton of bracing afterward because the wind would move the end walls in and out several inches. Of course I had garage door right in the middle of those walls which made things difficult.

Good luck roofing, just had mine re-done as well. I hired it out!!

Thanks, the roof peak is 20'. I got up there yesterday and it's not for me lol. I'll sub that roofing out. My framers put in diagonal braces which made all of the difference. Do you have those?

There were a couple diagonal braces on each end, but I added many more to secure the end walls in place. I'm in a high wind area and the big doors right in the middle of each end wall made them weaker and easier to move. Once braced up better they were fine.

And I hear ya on the roof, good call...

I just realized you're in Kansas so yeah- that's serious wind out there.

A little less than 3 months until the wedding. Siding goes up next after the Tyvek is all done.

been awhile since a post- so here's an update. PB smoked my photos which is super cool but whatever.

Got the Tyvek wrapped up and the siding all finished. After that was paint, then roofing, then trim. Painting was the hardest part of this build. With the walls being so high, and the wall in the back, every inch had to be painted on a ladder. Took me almost a week to finish it with two heavy coats.






We put an attic fan in for air movement which was pretty cool. This thing creates a light breeze in the shop and blows that blanket of hot air up top out. I'm going to install some side vents as well to aid in the hot air removal.

Once the windows and trim went in, it really started to feel like something. This is late August when it was 112* here. I worked on it every night after work into the dark to make the wedding date. My brother owns a high end garage door company and put in the Carriage House doors I ordered. He did what's known as a "high vertical lift" to keep the shop as open as possible. Dude is a wizard.
