Yeah I knew this was an issue unfortunately. The Firebirds are luckier and can tuck a slightly wider wheel into the rear without issues but it's not much better. I'll eventually run only 18's with most likely a 40 series tire so that's around a 26 -27inch tall tire. I think I'll have to keep my car at DSE height though. I won't have the budget or know how to go lower. There aren't any issues with leaf springs going as low as the DSE car that anyone knows about, are there?
This has turned into a great thread. Thanks everyone.

295/40/18s
We're running the Falken 615 series tires, 295/40/18s on Rushforth SuperSpoke 18x10s out back on my 71 Firebird. Stock tubs/suspension...
Before taking it to DSE SW's red 73 TA ran 295/35/18s out back on 18x10 CL205s/TTIIs with 5.5"bs with no issues whatsover and he got it setting pretty low for stock leaf springs with I think a 1" lowering block in the rear and cut springs up front. He ran 255/40/18s up front on a 18x8 with 4.5"bs fwiw.

I used to have a orange 70 with a blown big block that had graphics all over it. It was in about 18 magazines back in the 80's. It is now in Socal and people say it is in opening credits of "Pinks" ? Lifting the front end at the drags. Pretty wild car but I can't find any pics of it.
