Actually, this is THE reason I redesigned the intent and "theme" of this build.
Some would frown upon a shop doing a "mailorder bolt together" car but I just could not see cutting this one up to fabricate parts and defeat the purpose of starting with such a solid car.

With that said, look for some cool "mailorder bolt on parts" soon !

We have to thank Shannon at MODO Innovations for letting us help out with his new product. MODO Innovations now offers an electric trunk latch kit for 1966-67 Nova/Chevy II's. Some minor metal trimming is required to make the latch fit but the install was a walk in the park. The kit includes everything that is needed right down to the factory type screws and wire crimp connectors. The part number for this vehicle is MI 810.

Here is the simple install:

Steve's pics reminded me of a magazine install article...very detailed. I wasn't expecting anything that detailed, but I was very pleased to see the pics when he emailed them. Made my job a whole lot easier.

Well..... it left for the bodyshop today (1 week early).

I will post some pics up this weekend after the guys get going.
This is by far the cleanest body I've given them to start with so they were pretty excited.
As for pics (I know thats what you all like), this is all i got for now. Its of the rear wheel mock-up to measure for the very special rear end thats coming soon

The guys in the body shop had to finish up another big project first so it got off to a slow start. (we never have nor will we ever do in house body/paint. I leave that up to those who do it 100% of the time for a living).
The body got mounted up on the rotisserie, found a small spot we felt needed attention and smoothed the backside door skin area for a clean smooth look.
Once I got the bumpers back from the plater, we preped, masked and undercoated the backsides. All the bracketry was coated in the satin charcoal (I am really diggin this color/finish).
We will start to move quicker in the days to come.
