Rob, he is a car guy and the way I see it, the car is going to get what it wants. If the money is already sitting in the bank, as gear heads all we get to do is decide how long we want to hold on to it for. If we're saving up for parts then we have a little pile of money we get to watch grow for a while until one day the wife/gf finds it and steals it, or it goes poof when parts get ordered.

Anyhow... I worked the exhaust ports, mostly working on the bowls, on one head.

Started preliminary polishing.

I'm fairly happy, with how they are shaping up.

Okay, the decision has been made.

The Robert Pond, aluminum side oiler block is being ordered through Brent, at B2 Motorsports.
I've dealt with Brent before, on the TKO for my mustang. He really knows his stuff, and is always available to answer questions.

The engine planned is a 4.25 stroker x 4.270 bore, which is +.037 over for a 427.

The pistons will be Diamond, instead of Mahle, as they are available in the 4.270 bore.

That gets me to the target 489 cu

Yeah Brent is going to do the shortblock for me. If I was closer, I might ship everything to him, but we'll see how that goes, as we get further down the road.

Oh yeah, please add me to the dyno shootout, you're going to have to wait a good long while, maybe late spring early summer, for my results. I don't think Brent has a good way of dynoing the shortblock, unless he can spin the crank real fast with a torque wrench.

Exhaust are pretty much where I want them. Size wise I cannot go much bigger, based on the header opening, but I did radius the roof a little, incorporating a turn down, in the head itself.



Next I am revisiting the combustion chambers

It looks like Robert changed some of the casting around the lifter bores.

Hmmm, yeah appears so, but I haven't had the luxury of seeing many Pond blocks.

Thos intake ports of yours look "holy cow massive!"

I did not order any of the rotating assembly yet. Probably in a month or two, depending on how things go.
