As far as where I get my information, let's see, first hand knowledge? My 'free loader' dad gets retirement from the military, and served in vietnam. My 'free loader' sister gets survivorship benefits from her husband who was killed in Iraq. Many of his fellow soldiers are in afghanistan again, which is like their third deployment there, after at least 2 in Iraq. I'm not as familliar with pre-2006 deployments, but you can bet that the stryker brigades weren't just sitting on the sidelines.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but how is your father or sister a 'free loader'? That was paid for in blood and I am happy to fund those. I know A LOT of people who wear the uniform and very few of them have done more than four tours.

The restrictions put on our military by the current administration is prolonging the (current) war and putting our soldiers at greater risk. It would be easy to look back and slam Bush for the mistakes made with IRQ, but that won't move us in the right direction.

I play with cars as an escape, and Lat-G is part of that, this is the last place I want to have a discussion like this....I know it is a community, and we are all friends (well, most of us!) but do we have to pollute this place with political pissing contests? geez....

I voted for him last time... because he ran on a moderate platform of bringing everyone together... well... that... and who could vote for McCain/Palin. But I've never seen a POTUS that's been more divisive and more anti 'success'.
Just my two cents, but I think Greg is on to something here when he said he was looking for someone moderate the last time around. I think people were still looking for someone moderate this time around. Historically that is what usually plays a big factor in deciding the winner. I wish we could have seen what would have happened if Romney ran on a moderate ticket that didn't veer so far back and forth trying to appease everyone. I think the Romney campaign spent a lot of time pandering to the social conservatives, probably to try and ease their fears of voting for a mormon, which was probably a gigantic waste of time considering how likely social conservatives were to vote for Obama in the first place. Romney's record isn't representative of what a lot of people (left and right) probably figured they would be getting after seeing all of the campaigning done by both parties. I think I'll just cut my ramblings short right there before.

Matt brings up a question that I truly and honestly don't understand and would appreciate someone explaining to me. What does Romney being a Mormon have anything to do with it? Personally I don't care about a persons religion, race or sexual preference. I respect that and that person, so long as they respect the same in return. Why is this such a big deal?

Remember the old saying, "It can always be worse"? If they missed this so drastically do you really want this team moving on to bigger an better things?

As I mentioned to you earlier Jim, I don't think the players matter much right now. I think the game has to change. Washington is more about which party wins than taking care of the country. I feel so far removed from anyone in Washington I don't feel like things would be any better if the election would have went the other way.

We need a redo. Send the congress home, re-write the rules. Term limits, congress has to live by the same rules we all do. Health Insurance, Retirement, etc. etc. When the people running the country are the people better decisions will be made. Government has become too big and is now uncontrollable. The most important bunch that don't want to work for a living are in Washington! I see why so much money is spent to get there. It is the ultimate golden parachute. Why would any of them vote to change that.

I'm not sure how we fix this, but neither party has the solution from what I have seen. JMO..........

Back to Cars!
