Hate to say it, but that car you raced wasn't a Super Snake. I've got an 06 Mustang, as well as a Camaro, (I don't discriminate with muscle cars) and have wasted quite a few hours getting to know Mustangs, before really getting into pro-touring. In the video you posted, the car looked like a regular GT with a Roush body kit, and maybe a blower, from the sound of it at the end. Unless he's got forged internals, I doubt he's putting down more than 450rwhp, which explains why you blew past him. Hey, he probably felt emasculated by that sinister looking 69 of yours and had to say something

BTW you really make wish I'd gotten brushed hoops and my forgeline ZX3s, the new wheels look killer

Thanks guys! Your right Matt it wasn't a super snake. I found out it's an 07 GT with the body kit. However, it has been turned into a stroker with a turbo.

I just watched the video Todd, the car looks like it ran awesome! In the vid it looks like there is about ZERO body roll. How is the ride on the street with the current set up? Nice work on the track!

Really nice actually. I have the front shocks as stiff as they will go and it still rides nice. The back has 16 positions and I run it at about 12 on the track. I dial it all the way back to 3-4 and it rides really plush. The last two times I autocrossed I got about 2 miles and pulled over and crawled underneath the rear for a few seconds and on my way.

yeah thats a big part of the DSE sub and g-bar that amazes me, the way todds car rides on the streets.
with how nice and comfortable the suspension is on the streets you'd NEVER expect it to react the way it does when its put to the test...
and thats one of the big differences with just using a stock sub and great leaf springs, yes youll be able to hang with the 4/3 linkswith aftermarket subs on the track but to do that you have to sacrifice ride quality on the streets
i just look at it like if ya got the money the deff. go with 4/3link with a aftermarket sub.

todd i gotta come see the race look in person soon!

It sounds like a really cool set up Todd. I'll have to go back through my suspension after I get it on the road and do some better upgrades. For now it will be upgraded leafs and everything in front but the stock sub. Down the road I hope to be able to do a trick rear set up. For now the drivetrain is eating up a big chunk of the budget. I spoke to Jason Rushforth today and got my wheel choice figured out and am working on the brake package.
Rushforth Rated X 20x10 rear and 19x8 fronts with black centers and polished lip. 285/35/20 and 245/40/19 tires.
Can you guys suggest a good street tire that will stick in dry weather but at cooler temps than you have down in Nevada?

Thank you sir...and you definitely need to come over soon. You need to get out to my next autocross and ride along. How you been man?

I'd just go with the R888's and call it a day. If I had it to do all over again that's exactly what I would do. I haven't driven the car in sub 75-80 degree temps but it really has nice grip even when the tires aren't warm. Bad news is they don't make them in a 20". I wouldn't run that big a wheel if you plan on racing the car at all. And I don't care what the new ZR1 has on it.

It won't be "raced". Maybe a couple of open track days at most. It's being built to run on the street and have fun with. There is a fair amount of rice grinders around here that I want to play with. Just out of curiousity why would you not run 20's if it were to be raced?

Lack of sidewall and r compounds. I was once at your stage. I didn't think I'd race mine much either. Now that's all I care about. lol If you race it and your hooked your stuck with 2 sets of expensive wheels. (Ask me how I know) Now is the time to decide if your willing to take that chance. Personally I'd go with a 19/18 stagger since many performance tires are available. I get pulled over everytime I drive the damn thing on the street. I have the traffic ticket guy on speed dial and I'm on his Christmas list.

What you're saying makes good sense Todd. I'll have to re think my wheel sizes. I didn't realize there was such a limited range of tires in the 20" size. A 18/19 stagger would still look great and give me a bit more sidewall and a broader choice of tires too. Once again Todd, you have given me some great advice. Thanks.
As for the getting pulled over, I have a couple of friends in the city P.D. and a couple more who work for the county sherrif dept. I met them while I was out tearing it up on my bike. Now we are great friends. My wife is my insurance agant, if I get any more tickets I am effed!
