I keep forgetting to update my thread here. We made one last trip to the track back in November, ran a best of 11.08 (twice..) and then headed home to ponder autocross setup.

The car's had a moderate oil leak off the back of the motor for some time, and it gradually increased to a pour the last few months so we decided to pull it to look everything over, since we've put nearly 3,000 miles on it along with close to 100 passes.

Meanwhile, I've been thrashing on my Scion getting into the corner carving mood..one track day and an autocross already down for the year.

And, we got the motor torn down last weekend. Had a few intake valves leaking by, and one hole had some blow by on the rings, so we decided to tear it all the way down and freshen it up. I'm hooked on this timelapse thing

We've got a posi center section for the 9" to go in place of the spool, and we'll most likely throw some Schoenfeld header mufflers on and leave the rest of the exhaust off so we can sit it down on the ground. Now the fun part-sorting out our Frankenstein suspension

Thanks, sorry I just now saw this. About all we changed after getting up there was the launch RPM, moved up from 5400 the last time we ran down here up to 6000 the last day. Also ran it a little deeper each shift as the week went, 7500 compared to about 7300 before. The air was definitely the biggest factor.

Wow, life gets in the way a lot here lately, been forever since I updated this. We've pushed the autocross/g-machine phase back somewhat indefinitely, after bringing the car out to the track in the spring we figured out the synchros in the TREMEC are pretty much trashed. Turns out they mean it when they say not to shift it past 7k, who knew?

So, instead of rebuilding it, and my dad still not being able to drive the car, we elected to build a TH350 and so he could go bracket racing. It still launches all crazy, and we've finally cracked 6's in Texas. After flirting with 7.0's all summer, we finally got into the 6's a few weekends ago. Hopefully that translates to mid 10.80s in the 1/4, too, we'll find out before we put it to bed for winter.

Car still looks the same, except we put big yellow numbers on the windows

Yep, I like our old farm truck suspension It's actually a tenth off from what it was with the stick, we saw consistent mid 1.40's before, as low as 1.43. The converter is a leftover from the old days, little 8" set up for a 468 with a trans-brake in a dragster. It only stalls to about 2200.

With 5.14s and a looser converter it would pick up some more, but using what we have laying around is more our style

Holy thread resurrection Batman - time for a little update and some new plans!

The little Hellspawn Camaro is still kicking. After two and a half seasons of bracket racing, along with a total drivetrain overhaul finally done in my truck, we've finally gotten back to talk of the second phase of the project (and the relevant part to this site, oddly enough): Autocross and track days.

We'll be heading to the bracket finals with it in a few weeks, then serious discussions of the plan for next year will begin. Already have a posi going together to replace the spool, and a six speed from American Powertrain is likely next on the list.

So, the real question is: how crazy would it be to run an Optima qualifier and Drag Week in the same year?

And, what would an update be without a few pics?
