Now there's a quote that bears repeating.

Sorry CHarley, did not mean to "drag" the mule into the frey, it was just a good example of what I was saying, that and it is still out of the price reach of most of us here.
It might as well be the cuda as far as my check book is concerned.

i've been tied up with my daughter visiting and taking care of my elderly mother and father...The Cuda broke the output shaft on the trans, which attaches to the transaxle..it tore both all to pieces..breaking the rear end case etc. Rockland has a new heavier duty output shaft they are putting in a new transmission with the G-Force gears etc in it...building a new rear end with a new case etc..we have a carbon on carbon 3 disc clutch going in it and Center Force is building us a new flywheel for it. Bilstein is changing the valving on the shocks and we're increasing the rear spring rate to stop the wheel hop. The independent rears are prone to the hop and it just tears the hell out of them. All the gears are out being rimmed and the trans/and rear will ship out Tues. or Wed from Rockland. I'm more than disappointed that we didn't make Maxton. We've built all the race set-up stuff for it and haven't used it. Scott Pruett figured out what was making it push so hard..his engineer and he were discussing what it was doing and they concluded that the posi unit was locking up under power and the inside tire was trying to turn at the same rate as the outside tire thus making it want to go straight. I called Rockland when we got home, and they told me to put some posi additive in it..We had been told by Amsoil not to put any in it..that their formulation already had some in it. I called them to see what Amsoil recommended. They said to go and put some in it that it wouldn't hurt anything. We never got to use it...broke it on the drag strip before we could put it in the turns. Scott said it would be turning in like crazy, then he would hit the throttle and it would immediately go straight so we were looking forward to see how it responded. People are wondering what i'm going to build. I saw Josh's 58 Buick @ Putnam Park and it flung a craving on me. So I bought me a 1 owner 58 Buick Century Caballero Estate Wagon..it came factory equipped with air suspension..Gonna get Air ride to build me a modern set up for it. It's over at Alan's now...I have Doan Spencers last car he was working on when he died...It's a 66 GT 350 Mustang...It has a set of Spencer 16" 3 piece Kidney Bean wheels on it. I want to put a SOHC Ford Cammer in it(427 mid sixties kind)...As far as buying your own car back at Barrett...it now cost you 18%..The buy fee is now 10%..By the way, it's against the law to buy your own car at a no reserve sale...lot of people don't know that...There was an article about it in the legal files in the Sports Car Market a few months ago. Chandelier bids are also illegal...you can buy your car if it has a Reserve..but not no reserve. Barrett is probably going to crack down on it...they can't stop it...but one of their competitors runs cars at no reserve..they only charge you 5% total if your car is bought back...they better watch it. lawsuit happy people are going to sue over this and stand a shot at getting damages to boot... Barrett is not going to agree to anyone buying their car...no law against getting a friend buy it though...but at 18%...OUCH...We have to be at the Playboy Mansion on the 20th...leave here on the 15th..We will be back at SEMA in Mattel's Booth...We'll bring it back and throw the new clutch in it and see what we can get done...We have kept the cars vulnerable places covered in the clear plastic to keep road rash down...it will be as new when it goes to Barrett...as far as Barrett paying show money...not a chance in He**..it's a full 8% sell fee all the way to the sale price. I wish I hadn't committed to the Mansion deal...Maxton is having their last run and I will miss it because I have to be in California...

screw that, give me the playboy mansion anyday over a the maxton event

so what do all the vettes do to keep the rear from braking? I've seen plenty of vettes with more horsepower survive.

Really?

You have two choices. Hang with the boys and haul a$$, or pay a grip of cash to go stare at plastic chicks who won't go home with you.

Um...I'd be in Georgia.

horsepower is only part of the equation..the killer is the wheel hop..loading and unloading the transaxle just tears it up. That was the first time i had sat dead still and hit it hard...I had experienced some lesser wheel hop before and feathered it out..Alan has never had it hop on him...it was hopping at the drag strip..I eased out and hit it again..it hopped everytime I hit it again in first and second...The bigger output shaft and the new shocks will eliminate it I hope...We already have the good bushings etc in it...

Not really sure what the HARD ON or other stupid comments are about? You got to love that even the guy who posted the orig comment turned on me. Don't worry Bob will still be your friend. I have never met Bob and do not have a bad thing to say about him or anybody else. We are simply discussing a car's performance. Stop jumping down my throat to prove something to Bob and sit back and read my orig post. Nothing wrong said about anybody.

Guys, Bob's car is the best of the best end of story. I am not going to back track on anything that I said that in my orig post. The problem I have is guys just over exaggerating it's performance when if it was a different car that broke or didn't post it's performance as promised you would be all over it. If someone posted pics of their early 70's Implala sitting on 24's and gave the exact performance what would you be saying? Since it is Bob and he is a high profile guy you feel the need to defend the car's performance. This is also not saying that it isn't capable of hitting all its goals or maybe it has I have just never seen any follow up print in regards to that. By the way I have never seen Bob claim anything? I also have read a a lot of Bob's post and he does not hold back on anything.

So if I hop in my wifes Benz, Do a couple burn outs, half track passes and go on the PT and convince Bob to sit in the passenger seat I am the King of Pro Touring? This is something any car should be able to do. I agree that it is one of the few high end cars that has had any seat time but once again why treat it differently than a $25k car that everybody demands to see it back up it's claims. There is a guy on here with a turbo Chevelle that constantly claims to run a certain 1/4 mile and he gets hit with tons of replies demanding to see time slips. So what did I say that was so different? I think he is capable of answering for himself without the aid of the cyber tough guys with the comments.

This is a site about driving a car and it's performance. Sorry but as far as I know there are no other ways of proving performance than seeing numbers. I do not care if it is my own car or Bob's I am not going to say it is the best performing anything until I see it. If the car was built to be a unbeatable show car and killer driver it has more than met it's goals. The car has pushed the envelope in so many ways but if I remember right this site isn't just about looks.

Anybody who has ever met me knows I do not talk Sh-t about anyone. We are simply discussing a car. And before the attack on one of my cars start I will be the first to explain they are nice but the best or anywhere in Bob's league.

Again, nobody is saying that it's the "best performing car out there".. However you keep ignoring that it has seen track time. It ran hard and came in second at the Putnam event. That was against some pretty fast cars. Does that not count for some reason?

I also ran the auto-x event in PF and has tons of street miles. Last time it broke was at the drag strip, not being driven on and off a trailer at some car show.

I don't know why you continually ignore this even after it's been said to you. At least be accurate.

Bob, the wheel hop problem may not be a Cuda problem at all, but instead a track problem. I know of a half dozen cars that do not normally have wheel hop (Prodigy, Fuel, SteveO to name a few) that all suffered severe wheel hop at that track. Hell, my drag car had traction and wheel hop issues, and that car is known for hooking in mud! I think it had a lot to do with the concrete to ashphalt transition, pot marks, and spotty prep. So I would not be to stressed over wheel hop. After fixing Prodigy, Michael and I were playing on the street, me in the street racer, he in Prodigy on a 25MPH roll, when he matted it he burned the tires pretty hard, but no wheel hop like at the track.
