Heads are finnally back from the Head Shop! If I only had my gaskets that I special ordered I'd be set! This has got to be the longest cam swap on record! 8 weeks and counting... Heads look good, head shop did a nice job as always.

Summers in full swing here, it's too hot in the garage to actually get anything done and most of my time and money are directed toward the boat and the local beach bars but I have made some progress and collected a few parts. Waiting on the LS7 lifters to show up next week then perhaps I can put the top end back together. Here's a few teaser pics of the parts.

Here's a pic of my Chevy powered "stable"

It's also Racing season, here's a shot of my son's (Honda) and my WS6 at VIR in July. We both made it to HPDE3 now. One more level before we can get our comp licenses!

Things have been a little rocky around the Robinson house for the last month so progress has been stalled. I did get back into the garage some this week and made some progress.

LS7 Lifters soaking up some oil,

Lifters and LS2 trays installed, and finally decided to upgrade to head studs after ordering the wrong head bolts.

I put the rest of the motor back together last night, but I don't have any pictures yet. Tonight I'm going to check pushrod length and tidy up a few more loose ends. Should be ready to attempt to start soon. Hopefully I did my wiring right!

Finally got the rest of the engine back together. New pushrods and all! I ordered a complete updated body wiring harness From AAW that I will be installing and integrating the computer and relay box harnesses into. That will be my big fall project and then hopefully she'll be able to drive around the block at least. I still do have a rather large punch list of little stuff that needs to be done, but the body harness was the last "big ticket" item for a while. Jonnymac46 just got all new sheet metal for the front of his 68, so I'm gonna take his leftovers and put on my car for at least the shake down period. My sheetmetal is beyond any type of repair. Here's a pic of the motor together.

I'm gonna take a few weeks off on the Camaro to get the Firebird ready for VIR on Oct 13-14. Got a punch list on her too! On top of that is the new rod knock in the boat, will it ever end? At least boat season is just about over.

Ok, I'm finishing up the swap in my 67 Camaro and I'm having some trouble keeping it running. Then engine fires right up and the idle attempts to adjust then it dies after 5-7 seconds. Almost like I turned off the key. It will do this over and over again but won't stay running. Could it be the VATS? I pulled all that wiring out of the harness and grounded the yellow/black wire thinking that would bypass it, is that the right approach? Should I have the VATS programmed out of the ECU? Not sure where to start with this one, this is my first LS swap. I'm just glad it fired up on the first attempt! Drinking my beer now waiting for help from you guys!
