Had you given any thought about the Factory Five GTM? The kit is cheaper, mostly C5 based (spare parts are plentiful), and still along the same lines.

That is where the new E-rod engine come into play. GM Performance parts is rumored to have an E-rod LS9 engine coming very soon. Shoot for that fact an LS7 would be plenty of power in 2200lbs car.

HHMMMMM.

Yes the LS7 would be great power:weight, but it'd be a shame to put cats on that work of art. Maybe a turbo charged e-rod or that LS9 you mentioned? Not to mention a f'n front license plate, proper lighting, bumpers, etc.

If you were in the first 500 registered each year it would not have to pass emissions I believe. I know that is true for vintage kit car stuff. But this body does not resemble anything vintage. I think as a specially constructed vehicle it would not have to have bumpers. But It is "supposed" to have a front license plate. Obviously I would double check all this info before purchase. I know if you ran the e-rod engine things would be easy. After you got it registered and going you could do CARB legal improvements pretty easy.

Can you imagine that car in the fast lane down the 405? Just tell everyone it is some super limited super car from, some unknown country.

Great input on the legal requirements. I'd probably go visit the factory, see some running (get some seat time - that'd hook me for sure!), and do a reality check with the DMV.

The 405? How about pulling up next to some cupcake in a Lambo in BH? Or going to Supercar Sunday with a track scar on it? I'm already thinking about selling my boat to finance it. The GF even likes it better the the Camaro project, so I've got buy in there!

One project at a time, though. I'll check with RCR and see if they're planing on attending SEMA...

Ron, I really hope they're attending SEMA, because I have been eyeing their gt40s lately.

I still say you build a GT-40.
And surely, a shop with as much talent as yours could figure out a way to make more room inside!!

mk2 GT-40 + ferrari transaxle + some high revving V8

if you win the lotto in the next few days, i suggest one of these;

850 hp!

I'm not a huge fan of replicas, they're cool indeed, but I'm not really a fan, that's why I said that it'd be cool something different like a modern Corvair, a rear-mid engined Corvette resembilng a Corvair.
