I was hoping that the thread would have went more in the direction of disscussing what we all do for a living. Me personally, I am a Vice President of a commercial roofing company. Thats all i was looking for. I did not want to know what you did for a living and how much money you make at that occupation.
Sorry to all the trouble I caused and to all I have offended.

This thread has over 3000 views... I think several of us are curious.

I was curious and I'm not afraid to admit it, unlike several others. I mean not on a personal level. I'm saying from a car standpoint, because I do get curious about what a guy does for a living when he buys a $35k NRE engine and finishes with a $400k car like a Ring Brothers build or the owner of the In NOVAtor that just won SMOTY. That doesn't mean that I'm so darn nosey that I want to know down to the exact dollar amount he makes and what he pays in taxes. I just assume a guy doesn't have a normal job or income when he builds a car on that level...that's all. Just curious to know in general if he's a doctor, lawyer, biochemist, etc. For that matter we all know what it takes to build a car. Hell, it takes years on normal salaries. Therefore, to build a $400k car in a year, a guy more than likely has a nice job. No more to it than that. Gollee guys c'mon!!
What even irks me more is...and this is just my opinion, is that if one of the more popular, bigger named guys on this site (and we all know who they are)would have thought of this many would have said nothing or at least kept their comments to themselves. But, a lesser known guy and newer member like the OP started it and he gets jumped.

I think the question could also be, who in the PT community could have been millionaires if it weren't for the PT community!

True that everyone will view the question differently and I understand that. The one thing I really like about our group is that income has never been a factor when it comes to enjoying our mutual addiction/love of cars. The question was intended to be harmless, but what will others think? I for one always try to look out for rabbit holes and it concerns me that if people (lurkers) get the impression that the majority in our group make more than the average that scams and rip offs will increase. We've seen enough of those.
Its nice that here on LG we are all equal.

Income and wealth are two entirely different things. Its not about how much you earn, it's how much you keep. Personally dunno why you would ask, or for that matter care if someone else did.

I hear you! Had I known about the lack of pay I might have made aviation a hobby. I get a kick how everyone assumes all the destinations are fun filled resort style adventures.
Back in my Freight Dog days, I flew with a guy from your neck of woods. Climbing the ladder there is a bit more of a challenge from what I've heard.

If someone is offended by your post they have a ME problem. Simple conversation topic, respond appropriately or not. Cool that all walks and all incomes like the same stuff.

This entire conversation strikes a funny bone for me personally... and I'll tell you why.
Charley and I are at Thunderhill Raceway... and when I'm pulling out of there on Sunday afternoon... I drive past a bunch of big azz motorhomes with stackers and there's GT40's inside - and dedicated "real" race cars... and Panoz...and well - you get the picture. I'm in my 2006 Ford Dually - towing a 24' single car hauler... and I'm thinking (asking myself). Holy crap! I wonder WTF those guys do for a living?!?!

That was my point exactly. Panoz Roadster, GT40's, etc. We all know what they cost. So, that would be equivalent to my thinking of, "...dang, what does a guy do for a living to be able to afford a $25k LS9?" Many of us have two cars that don't equal $25k, yet alone just the motor.

Word. I'm afraid my house isn't worth that much anymore.
