James- The base start of this will look similar to the first one you did on OLC.. The driving force behind this spoiler is that Carl Casanova wants this for his car for the recent upgrades.. I did tell him that I would start this way but in the end it will have to look the way I want it to.. plus the function has to be optimal.. Plus I need to be able to apply it to other builds that I have for the shop..

I will be honest with you about one thing.. The first time I saw OLC @ SEMA .. It is what caught my attention to build Pro-Tour Camaro's .. The work & detail just blew my mind away..

You might have a good chance of picking just about everything on the road..

Todays status... My number priority is the function of the spoiler.. We kinda used what they did on a 70 Trans Am... But the goal was to deflect the air away from the tire...

I'm not sure if I'm aerodynamically knowledgeable enough to crticize, but I'll try anyway...

Aren't you going to be adding drag by flaring the spoiler out away from the car? In other words, wouldn't it be better to have reverse the curve such that it was rounded towards the tire instead of out and away from the car? If seems like if it was a curve towards the tire then it would help direct the air down the side of the car.

By doing it the way in which you have, you will create a turbulent spot behind that spoiler right there at the tire. I don't know if that creates any kind of problem, but at a bare minimum, flowing air right down the side of the tire could only help in at least removing heat from the braking area, right?

Just a thought after looking at the picture... Can you educate me otherwise if I'm completely off base please?

I learned alot for Troy when they took Blowfish to the Wind Tunel and what they thought would work didn't and what they ended up with was about a 1/16 of what they started with. In the end the only way anyone will know if a front air dam, spoiler or rocker skirts work is to get the car in a wind tunnel. Which is very very expensive.

In the case of the Blow Fish - less was better.

However on a Side Note: I really like the look and can't wait to see it in Carbon Fiber.

My understanding was that the air around the tire was so turbulent that it was worth the drag penalty to direct the air around the tire. This was touched on in the reinventing OLC thread a little. Everything you said makes perfect sense, though.
