Sweet car/motor. It's sad that you only plan to drive it 500 miles per year. Something like this needs to be on the street.

It'll likely be more based on the rate I'm currently using it! LOL. It's a beast!

I'm still working on fine tuning the AED 950 carb with a wideband, but I gotta say I'm surprised at how docile and smooth the motor is. I can putt this thing around town in 4th gear at 2,200 rpm. It makes 8 inches of vacuum at idle and the power brakes work fine (as does the PCV system). It's just not something you'd expect from 14:1 compression, [email protected] solid roller motor.

So here's the next round of upgrades... I was very impressed with the fitment of the Hooker 2105 headers so I decided to try Hooker's complete 3" stainless exhaust system. Hooker even makes headpipe adapters to their headers so this should be as close to a direct bolt-in as you can get. I'm not a big fan of absorption-style mufflers, so I ordered a custom set of stainless Spintech mufflers for my install. As soon as everything gets here, we'll see how it all fits up.

My SpinTech mufflers arrived today. I had them custom made in 304 stainless with 5 spin traps instead of the normal 6 traps. Some of the baffling on the side of the muffler casing was also left out. This should put the sound level somewhere between a Sportsman muffler and a Pro Street muffler design. I went with the Sportsman case size to match the size of the Hooker V304 mufflers that came with the exhaust system. The overall muffler length and inlet/outlet offset of the two muffler designs is identical so they should bolt right up. The Hooker mufflers are also very nicely constructed, but I had my heart set on a chambered-style exhaust note.

How did yours fall apart? Mine appear to be of high quality and are very ruggedly built.
