Funny, now that you mention it. I was just looking at pics with the Vette 18's on the rear of my car and I am currently borrowing 17's and it definitely is noticeable. 18's look way better. Oh well.

If you make the wrong decision and go with 17's , you could go fat lip and that will make it appear like an 18" wheel with a step lip. I'm referring to the wheel center. Personally, I'm a big fan of step lip wheels but I thought I'd throw out that option.

Whats a fat lip? You mean not going with a stepped lip? Is it even an option with the GA3R's?

If I could get an 18" 315 in an NT-05 I would probably think about going to 18's in the rear. Up front I'm going to shoot for light weight.

Honest opinion though, do you think 17" tires stick better than 18's? I honestly think 17's stick better than 18's just because the sidewall on an 18 is a bit shorter and wont allow for as much, for lack of a better word, tire flex or compression. I could be wrong but thats what I think. Add the fact that they are lighter and thats a plus.

I know everybody is going to 18's these days but is it for looks or performance?

You seem to really like the NT01 on your car. It's so stiff with very little front suspension travel. I have to wonder if making the adjustments we discussed in Buttonwillow will negate the tire deal along with adusting the balance after making the changes. Bigger brakes are an advantage and I feel the 18" wheel looks better. Currently, you may be faster on a 17" wheel. What about down the road? You have two sets of 17" wheels. Why are you buying another set? To gain performance or looks?

I think available tire size and brand dictates wheel in my case. I think the NT-05 will probably be the best 200 tw tire to go with but they dont make a 315 for 18" wheels.

I've got two sets of 17" wheels but one set is going on the white car and the other is borrowed.

Looks is second on the list. If I were going for looks I'd keep the white Camaro and sell the orange one. The white one is alot cleaner.

I'll be working on suspension travel as soon as I get my wheels. First I'm going to throw the new tires and wheels on. I have two new sets of Afco springs, 600 lb and 650 lb. I'll start out with the 650 lb springs, adjust the spring spacer for more travel, throw it up on scales for balance, and then hit the alignment shop. I've got a buddy that has an alignment rack. We are going to do 3 or 4 camber/caster set ups. Basically throw shims in, get a setting, pull them back out and label them. 1 set up from Doug at Global West, 2 set ups from Vince, and one from me.

Thought I wasn't going out until May but I'd like to be ready for RTTC so I'm shooting for test and tune at Thunderhill in January on 200 TW tires. NCRC is having a "get your money back if it rains" track day on the 23rd for $99.

^ that looks sick Gae! 18s look perfect on your car, but I'd go gunmetal/titanium unless you change those white stripes? Thanks for posting those pics. Very close to the ride height I'm shooting for on my ride...

Now get back to work Bro. You gotta pay for them!

The pic's dont do these wheels any justice. Guy, his dad, and myself agreed the black looked good!!
Aside from that, both those wheels were fronts.......18x8 with 4 3/4 back space. I'll be going 9.5 wide with 5.5" back space up front and 10.5 wide in the rear with 6.5" back space. I think the deeper dish will make these things pop even more.

Hopefully I'll have my car ready for the 23rd. It will all be contingent on when my wheels show up.
