Tire choices for DSE equipped 67 Camaro
Hey there,
I have a 67 Camaro with the DSE subframe and minitub/Quadra-link/9" DSE Moser rear end. According to the DSE catalog, this will accommodate 18x9 front, 18x11 rear. The tire sizes are 255/35ZR18 front, 315/30ZR18 rear. I purchased Forgeline RB3C rims at the above sizes.
I am looking for advice from you. According to Tire Rack size calculator, the only tires available in these sizes are the Yokohama Advan A052 or the Falken Azenis RT660. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 are available for the rear, but not the front. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is available for the front, but not the rear.
I am hesitant to 'mix and match', as these tires are usually designed to work together. The car will be 99% street, so that was my attraction to the Michelins in the first place.
Do y'all have any thoughts on options? Getting different rims is not on the table.
Thanks in advance, fellas.

Mark Stielow went with 275/35ZR-18 on front with DSE front suspension on this 67.

Yeah, I PM’d Stielow yesterday to get his advice/input, but haven’t heard anything back yet. He’s a busy man, I’m sure.

Given the more I learn, the less I know. Given all that:
1. Do not use different brand tires, front to back. You won’t like it. I wouldn’t either. Oh sure, racers can make logical arguments otherwise. I don’t care. I could tell by your post, you won’t be happy.
2. I have spent more time face-to-face with Kyle Tucker debating “tire perfection” on a first gen Camaro than I care to share.
3. I think my car is still on this forum .., something like “Jim and Geralyn’s 68..,” . Anyway, Paul Morgan of DSE installed minitubs and rolled the fenderwell lips. The front subframe I have is originally stock but I did perform over fifty mods.
ENOUGH WITH THAT.
Please consider BFGoodrich g-Force Rival-S tires.
I understand they don’t have your perfect size.
However, maybe, could you go front as 245/40R18
Back as 315/30ZR18.
If you check recommended rim width for the above, it may work beautifully.
Final thoughts:
I do not own stock in BFG. Lol. I have run Michelins with out complaint.
My favorite is the BFG’s I recommend above.
I run 335 section width on a 68’ without a rub, but it is tricky to accomplish.
And if anybody out there thinks my baby girl (68’ Camaro 572) is anything less because she ain’t sport’n an official DSE subframe, well, guess who’s frame they used as the prototype for their jigs. LOL. LOL. LOL

Oh No!
LonghornJPS, I am very sorry to learn your home got damaged. One of my best friends, who lives in Asheville, had his home destroyed. You got a lot to deal with. Just know there are people West of you, across state lines, that are and shall continue to send best wishes, encouragement, and even a prayer. Just please HANG IN THERE. When you have a bit of time for this forum, please let us know you guys are okay. Tire decisions can wait. We will be here.
