Yup, you read that correctly.
The owner has always wanted a Gremlin, and once he finally had it, he decided he wanted to embarrass Corvettes... So, he called Schwartz Performance.
The car was originally a v6, so he needed more power, but wanted to keep the AMC heritage intact. A built AMC v8 engine solved that problem.
Once the car made it to Schwartz Performance, we assessed the situation and decided the best way to fit our G-Machine Chassis was to retrofit a first-gen Camaro chassis (The other option was a Mustang chassis). Basically, we shortened the wheelbase. We wanted a lower than average stance, so we integrated the frame into the car more than normal. This wasn't our typical bolt-in installation.
The Gremlin doesn't have a great deal of rake into its body design, so we raised the front fenders 2 inches for a more aggressive look.
This car is truly going to be an autoX, autocross monster. It has suspension and brake upgrades — RideTech tripple-adjustable coilovers & Baer Extreme Plus 6-piston caliper with 14in drilled rotors.
We minitubbed the rear to fit 18x12 wheels with 335/30/18 BFGoodrich KDW tires...
