re-hooping billet wheels - Lateral-g Forums

I've got a set of Budniks that i bought a while back (used), long story short, I need to get them re-hooped (wider and different offsets). I think Budnik is in CA, I'm in Illinois, Billet Specialties is only like 30 mins away. I was thinking i could avoid the hassle and expense of shipping them across the country and just bring them to Billet Specialties. Do you think they'd re-hoop a different manufacturers wheel? I was told it's about 200 per wheel then add shipping and it's gonna be about $1g (plus the 1100 i paid for them in the first place). Should i just try and dump them and start over or get my wheels redone?

In my experience, and you know I use to work for Budnik, and have dealt with Billet Specialties for 5 years, no, they won't, but can't hurt to ask.

You can certainly call Budnik, and ship them to them, for like 25-35 bucks a rim in shipping they'll take care of it for you.

I actually bought the rims from you. Small world. I know someone who knows someone at Billet specialties, so i guess it cant hurt to ask.

See post below. He sent a set of Fikse's to Forgeline and had them widened. Therefore, I'd assume if Forgeline widened some Fikse's for him, they might do some Budniks for you. The only problem I see is Budniks centers are welded from the back and Fikse's have a bolt in center.

Fikse / Forgeline, are both three piece wheels, and although I'm surprised that they did it, is much easier to un bolt a wheel, and bolt it back together with silicone, then to cut out a wheel center that is welded into a two piece outer, and install it into a new wider outer, and weld it back in. A lot of three piece wheel manufactures aren't set up to cnc weld and true a two piece wheel.... completely different manufacturing processes.

nacnac, if you know someone at BS, can't hurt to ask right? What's the worse they can say? LOL.

Jay at Budnik is re-hooping my rear Gassers to 18x12 w/6" backspace. Should be done this week!

The wheels i have now are 18x7's with 5.25 bs and 18x8 w 6.25 bs. They were on an import (lexus is300 i think). They're like a front wheel drive offset. Thats why i need to re-hoop to lessen the bs w/o running spacers. My car is a 68 mustang thats been mini-tubbed so im sure i can get a 10" on the rear. What size rim would i want if i were to run a 295 drag radial. 10"? 11"?
