What would be a good dual electric fan set up for 70 GTO?
Has someone done a dual electric cooling fan set up for a 68-72 A-body? I was told a Mark 8 was a good fit, as was a 2008-up Camaro dual fan assembly. Any suggestions? Running a 455HO,a six speed, no air {yet},3:73...convertible.
On my 70 Chevelle I used a dual fan assembly from a 98-02 F-body and it fit the stock radiator perfectly. I made a couple of small brackets for it to slide into on the bottom and the radiator support held the top.
Jody, how did you wire it? Any special relays, etc? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
you find them on Ebay all the time. They make one and two speed versions, both work fine. You'll need a 65 amp relay minimum (I use 75 amp) and the relay ground can be controlled by your computer if used, a simple grounding temp sensor from Ron Francis, switch, or something like DC Controls depending on budget.
This is a strait up redneck carburated 455 Jody, with some fancy schmancy stuff thrown in. For the old school approach, would the harness be the same? I'm trying to finish the speedster nice and the 70 GTO a little more low budget. Can you recommend a wiring harness if the factory one isn't available?
I put a 98-02 fan and radiator set up in my camaro, so I have no Idea on fitment for the A-body. But after starting my car for the first time, and letting it idle for 30 minutes, the temperature was pegged at 180. The radiator was $60 shipped, and the fans were 150 off of ebay brand new.
What INTMD8 said, dual fan from 98-02 F-body fit my 70 Chevelle perfect. Aluminum radiator, dual fans, heavily modified BB, stays at 180. Pull-a-Part, $25.00
