Default History of Lateral G

I stumbled upon some info on this site that I was completely unaware of, I was under the impression that Jody started and founded this site but much to my surprise it was Scott Gulbranson?

If this is the same Scott Gulbranson I am thinking of then I know him from other motorsports ventures. I don't know him personally but I know of his photography and racing connections. He hasn't logged on since June of 2012 so I am assuming he is busy with his other hobbies. Anyway, being from Southern Minnesota it just sort of shocked me because of the connection.

I just figured it would be cool to hear stories of how this all came about if anyone can share some information...

It's quite impressive what this site has become. I was always on PT until I realized how much more I like it over here. Thanks to all that keep things running like clockwork on Lat G.

Yes, this site is the result of an idea and the hard work of Scott Gulbranson. He and I were active on the car boards. He emailed me asking a question one day and we became friends. I became interested in building a website for my cars, and he was also playing with website design, so we used to bounce ideas back and forth.

One day around 2003/04 he called me and told me he had new software that would allow him to build a car forum, wondered what my thoughts were. Agreed it would be very cool, and Lateral-G was born.

He and I were both Administrators, but he was the creativity and driving force behind the site. I just helped out with moderating, tried to take as much pressure off of him as I could. After several years of owning the site he had new interests (photography) and in May of 2012 I took over the site, and he pursued his camera work.

I spoke with him a few days ago. His photography has really taken off, and he's having a ball with it. No surprise at all, he is very creative and has a great eye for what looks good. You can check out what he's doing at Gulbranson Photo.

I now handle all the day to day operations along with a great group of moderators, without whom I'd be in trouble. I've learned how to do the features and site design changes, and love the design process in web work. Most people never even knew I took over a year and a half ago, and that's a good thing. That means we're still heading the same direction that Scott invisioned. Without our members and vendors this site would not be what it is, but without Scott it never would have even existed.

I have been here I swear since day 3 or 4. Scott told me once I was member number 56 or something like that. It has grown by leaps and bounds and feel that the atmosphere and group of people that frequent this site makes it one of the best forums I participate on.

LOL, come to think about it I might still have the first ever Lat-G tee shirt. It was a crayon iron-on but that was "the in" back then.
