Thumbs up Monthly Art Show

Hey Guys-

One thing we all know is that to keep our skills up to par we've got to keep our tails in the studio. Sometimes, especially for part time artists, life gets in the way and we may go weeks at a time without picking up a pencil. On the other hand full timers often do some amazing work and no-one except the client ever gets to see it.

To keep us on the ball I chatted with the admins and they have given us the o.k. to run a monthly art and collectible show. They see the need for us to share our talent with the world and are excited to get some more activity rolling on this area of the forum. To help with this I've volunteered to head things up and am very open to input from you all as to how we should run it. At this point I was thinking that the first Saturday of each month I'll start a thread describing a theme car and then the first Friday of the following month we post up either what we've worked on for a client that month or if we've had no client activity for that month our version of the theme car. Either way it ensures all of us is producing something new every month.

Because there are different levels of skill and different rendering mediums for now we'll just keep it as an art show. Depending on participation we may look into adding a monthly contest option to the show. Any thoughts or ideas lemme know. Shows are open to all makes and years. If you build car models or pinstripe or photograph cars or ??? with an automotive theme, post up, it's not limited to just drawings of cars. Please do not post until the first Friday of the following month so that we're all posting on the same day. Now, Let's see whatchya got!

We all could keep on our toes.
Hard to do with a full time job but manage to squeeze a few out now and then.
Now if I can find the time to organize and get together ideas for a website!

Feel free to post what you work on for clients, you don't have to do extra art specifically for the show.

And if yer website will look anything like your logo, can't wait to see it!

Hi Folks,

please explain this part again

I'm confused on the purpose of the "first Saturday....theme.."
Should we not just have an art show on the first Friday of every month, plain and simple?

I love your idea. And once a month is perfect because once every week is too often and we don't get enough posts anyway. Everyone has a life..etc.

I love how you are adding "all" art: photography, pin-striping, jewelery, whatever as long as it's automotive related. Very cool

Thank you kindly, great thing you're doing

Al

Sorry to confuse. We post up and have the show on Friday, then the next day, Saturday, I'll introduce the theme car for the following month's show.

This month I suggested a patriotic car because of July. I haven't had time to do the theme car so I'm going to show something else I did this month. Some folks will do the theme car so there will hopefully be a good variety of posts.
Friday Aug 1st we'll all post up for the month of July. Then the day after I'll post up August's theme which will actually be for the show for the first Friday in September and will give us a month to work on it. (It'll be a fun one ...) Hope this makes more sense.

Another thing I wanted to say is don't wait for the show if you have other things to post throughout the month. This section of the forum will be a ghost town if we do that.

Let's just say if you worked on the monthly theme car or the one you're most excited about, save it for the show.

Also, what do you guys think, should we post only one for the show or maybe limit it to a few or???

maybe posting only one will actually make people post other stuff throughout the month in the art forum to keep it alive and well ... then again, limiting it to one might make the show smaller? I dunno. Tough choice. I think putting a limit on the show might be a good idea though.
