Default Ye Olde Pub WWII B-17

A friend bought an oil painting about 9 months ago depicting an amazing event of human compassion and respect from WWII, he just received it last week from the artist. I had never heard of Ye Olde Pub, Pilot Charlie Brown (seriously) or the German Bf-109 pilot Franz Stigler until then. The quality of the painting is nothing short of amazing, more like a photo from 2' viewing distance. But what really moved me was the back story that came with the painting.

I found this NYP article that covers the events well, hope you enjoy it.
