Default 1970 Green Chevy

I bought this truck when I was 15, drove it around in HS, and sold/traded it back and forth with my my dad a number of times. I put it away in storage when my dad passed away in 2010. So last fall I dug it out and brought it to my shop. Its a 2wd, looks like a 4wd, has a 3" lift, 16x12's and a rat painted on it.Pretty sweet.

I won some tires from BFG in a Facebook contest put on by DSE. So I got a free set of BFG Comp All Seasons in 305 and 285 20's. It was reason enough to tune up the old C10. Ordered up a TVS system from Hotchkis (on sale) and some Vette brakes from Kore 3. Both of these suppliers were great to deal with, and the kits were very complete and high quality. Long beds are good for storing parts too. The truck arms are from a Nascar, fit is great and they are cheap. Just had to cut of the panard bar mount and make a spring seat. CPP modular spindles were a c-list find, booster and MC from e-bay, Captain Fab booster bracket from over at 67-72trucks.com

I want to paint it, but not in the budget right now (I work in the oil and gas industry). So everything but the body will be freshened up. Here it is all tore apart.
A local manufacturing outfit has blasting and powder coating capabilities. I brought them tons of stuff. They did a great job and cheap, this portion was like $180 bucks.
I had the frame painted by the same guys that painted my Nova. It was kind of a pain removing and installing a frame by myself.

The motor is a 454 with 396 oval port heads (should have some compression). I pulled the valve covers off and found little bits of metal hanging out under there. The source was the cups in the aluminum rocker arms that the push rods ride in. Everyone of them was broken or cracked. The tips of the push rods didn't fit in them properly. So the motor was cleaned and re-sealed. I also added a new comp cam, push rods, rocker arms, new intake and carb. Couple things I learned doing this, the green gasket stipper rolocs from 3M are awesome, and the one piece pan gasket from Fel-Pro is pretty great too.

This is where I am at now. Wheels are ordered, American Racing Rallies in black, 20x10.5 and 20x12. I am really excited to see this thing back on the ground.

Nice project, it's a nice looking truck. That was a deal on those powder coated parts.

Very nice truck, the different valve covers and air cleaner make that 454 look good!

Super crazy clean C10, cool that you've owned it for so long and awesome upgrades. That is going to be a lot of fun. Smiles for Miles!!

So, after years of upwards of $4/gal it should be in the budget for a top notch paint job. Just yanking your chain bro. I completely understand. Nice truck. I will be watching this one. Keep the pics coming.
