Default Holley MPFI

Hi guys, looking at the Holley mpfi 550-609 engine control unit. Wondering if anyone has used this before? I will be using it to control my 6.0/80E 69 Nova. I debated on going with hp tuners, or using a well known tuner here in Indy, and I came to the conclusion the Holley would be best for me. I plan to make many mods as I go, and can't afford to pay a tuner for a retune after every change. I know the unit says its good for up to 600-which according to Holley is only based on their injector control capabilities, but they said I could lap top tune if I wanted to. SO, having said that, what are your opinions? Thanks

It will work great. Buy the parts separate and don't get the touch screen. Just us a laptop. The base tune will get you up and running.

I haven't used the Holley stuff. I can tell you HPTuners made all the difference in my tune work. If you're going to end up using a laptop on the holley stuff, I really like HPT. It's incredibly exacting-- and there's huge support for them. If you need a write up or a walk through on how to do something, it's there for you.

I have zero experience using the Holley stuff, but it looks like a diesel tuner where it steps up in levels. And I have a hard time getting behind something that isn't tuned for the car. A generic tune for stage I, stage II, and stage III might be leaving power on the table.. all cams are not equal, all headers are not equal, all heads, intake, throttle bodies, mafs are not equal. I can't live knowing that stuff isn't dialed in for the car.
