Default 1966 Suburban at the Roadster Shop

We have a pretty unique project going on for a local customer. I started mentioning it in our Shop Project thread a while ago. The truck is making some progress and I have had a lot of people asking about it, so here is a build thread dedicated to the truck.

We spent a good amount of time looking for the right truck to begin the project with. We finally found a real solid California truck (that was residing in New York ) that had the clam shell back door and was relatively unmolested.

As the truck arrived.

We worked with Eric Brockmeyer to come up with a few initial concept designs for the truck. The customer is really into long boarding and wanted to carry that theme with the truck. We are still playing around with colors and need to finalize a lot of the details, but this is the direction that we are heading.

The parts have started coming in for the truck. We went with a 572 with a F2 Pro Charger and EFI. We are shooting for 700 - 800 HP while retaining good drivability. We are figuring that this burban should end up tipping the scales close to 5,000 lbs so it will need some muscle to get it going.

The Pirelli tires are just huge! 305/35R24's in the back and 295/30R22's on the front

We put the front wheel fron Chris's Chevelle next to them for comparison. It almost fits inside of the rear tire!

Hey guys, any info on that Camaro over there? Anyway, the plans for the truck are REALLY cool, I always enjoy a build like this one.

Here is a photoshop mock up of the ride height with similar wheels to what we will be using. The truck will sit right at 6" at the front of the rocker and 7" at the rear

Thanks. The Camaro is our mechanic's Outlaw Drag Radial project. 632 BBC with twin 91mm turbos. Should be right around 3,000 HP on a 315 drag radial!
