Default 1986 T-Bird

I remember seeing pictures of the T-Bird with this grille and ground affects when they were new and thinking it looked cool. I found this on ebay a few years ago and it was only about 30 miles away so I bought it. I started doing the bodywork than lost interest and it has been sitting outside for a couple of years. My other projects require a lot more work and money to finish so I thought I would finish this. I will be removing the V6 and adding a 302 and 8.8 form a Lincoln LSC.

This is how it looked when I got it.

Brian will have a little rust repair

I sanded it down and primed it a couple of years ago

I've always liked those year Tbirds. I think they would make for a really cool hotrod or PT car. Good luck with it.

My Thunderbird has been overlooked to long so I decided to work on something you will never see the front and rear bumper support

I cleaned them up and sprayed a couple coats of SPI epoxy

Glad to see it's still around and moving even if slowly.

Today I sanded and epoxy primed the front and rear bumper

The front bumper will require a lot of sanding and priming

That's a dumb idea who would ever build a T Bird and think it was fast

My dad worked as a mecanic for Raceway Ford when those were new - His coworker / buddy built one with a twin turbo 302 taken off a pair of turbo coupes (there was a recall and the turbos went to the "dumpster" even on the cars with good turbos ...) He could peel out til he ran outa rubber.

302s aside, I always thought the turbo coupes were cool, along with the SVO mustangs would be a cool car to have

That Bill Elliot paint scheme is classic.
