Remote oil filter location, any suggestions should be great.

I'm building a 1970 Camaro and I'm running an ATS oil pan with remote oil filter. I've been all over the car and so far have only been able to fit it on the drivers side radiator support. It seems like the shortest, most secure spot I can find.

Would there be any down side, to me mounting it here??

Any comments would be great!

I would suggest referring to Blake or Ben at Speedtech Performance . Their oil pan comes with remote oil filter kit and have seen them installed in a different location.

I actually know them pretty good! I spoke with Rodger at speed tech and they usually install their remote oil on the front portion of the drivers side frame rail. Im running the stock sub frame so my steering assembly and sway bar takes up that whole area.

I was concerned with how far and the height of my location compared to the motor. I know its always best to keep it closer to the motor, but on my car it will be really hard to locate it elsewhere. I'm hoping there's no reason I can't keep it there.

My only thought is that every time you change the filter it's going to make a mess. That would be my biggest concern when doing a remote mount.

If I put it there I'll make sure I leave enough room to put a rug under it when I change the oil filter.

That was the main reason for getting rid of my Milodon oil pan and going with Autokraft oil pan which has spin on type oil filter. Besides, you would get rid of extra plumbing required for the remote oil filter.

what about on the outside of the frame horn up by the bumper bracket. i think keeping it low would be better.
plus easier to drain with less mess.
maybe cut a hole in the inner fender to mount it high enough for the hoses to come over the top of the frame and into the filter mount.

I have the ATS pan as well, and while it is an extremely beautiful piece, I am not comfortable with the idea of the extra complexity involved with the remote mount filter.

I am considering swapping to the MAST pan, which appears to work, on paper at least, with my 4 inch crank and Holley swap components.

Are there any advantages the ATS pan offers over other options on the market to make it work keeping?

I'm way to ivestened turn back now. I don't mind the extra plumbing, just trying to find a spot that doesn't look like an after thought.

I tried what Blake's suggested. I would have to make a mounting Bracket of some sort. I'll just keep looking at it, till makes sense.
