Hey all. I recently replaced my entire suspension with Speedtech Performance G Body parts including some experimental parts we've been working on. I thought I'd share some photos a friend shot of the car's first AutoX with the new suspension at a local SCCA event. I finished installing everything including a brand new set of tires around 9 pm the night before, so this was a true shake down. This was a long and fast track, I got up to about 60 mph on one straight, and it was a blast to drive.
Just playing with the shock compression valving I knocked 3 seconds off my time over 10 runs, going from 78s down to 75 seconds, and was about middle of the road amongst a whole bunch of imports. Not bad for a big ol' 3700lbs of station wagon. Overall the car runs at least as good as it was with the old suspension set up and I still have a lot of adjustability in the alignment, spring rate, shock rebound, and the rear sway bar to play with. At this point I plan on making the Hotchkis event in Fontana in October, hoping to get a bunch of runs there to continue tuning things. Enjoy the pics!
Blake and I have talked a lot about a torque arm for a G body. The whole problem with this platform is the goofy floor pan. There's no room for something like that and a decent exhaust system. We haven't totally written it off but for now my car is still a 4 link rear.
Mostly we have been playing with front suspension. My old set up worked decent but now I have a whole new world of ease of adjustability and tuneability that you don't have to be an engineer or need special equipment to take advantage of. It's nothing really new, it's just new to this platform.
