I'm here as well. Happen to be sporting my Lat-G tee today too.
I'm reporting for cars and parts mag on the progress. This is really a first class operation. Bret and his crew have gone above and beyond here. Rolled over with the travel trailer and took my son out of school this week. Going to be a long couple of days. |

For the record...Tim is correct. His goatee is WAY cooler than Chad's! :king:

|

Had no clue I'd be as addicted to this build as I'm am. Chad is doing a great job MC'ing the event. Quite entertaining and more importantly educational. |
I am going to have to work all weekend to catch up with what I am missing here at work.:underchair: :peepwall:
|
Things are getting silly here...
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...psrflnwcsv.jpg Tune in here: https://lateral-g.net/48-hour-corvette-live-right-now/ |
If you are paying attention to the details, Ridetech is REALLy stepping things up with this build:
Drivebywire throttle pedal Fire suppression system Accusump Racepak Dash Batttery cutoff switch along with extra ground lugs and leads everywhere Aluminum shielding above half shafts to prevent damage Prototype steering box stiffening brace etc etc Along with everything else that anyone that has built a car knows how long it takes to do... Color me impressed... :gitrdun: |
Engine getting ready to go in...
|
I am now convinced that I will Wrap my Chevelle. That stuff is awesome. Then when I get tired of that color I can change to what the wife wants.
|
I'm loving watching the wrap - they use the string to pull up and cut around the tight curves. Feels like dental floss....
The quarter panel is going on now - going to head over there and get a closer look |

2.5 hours left!!! :trophy-1302:
|
Ut oh...no fuel pressure... About an hour to go and still no heat...
|
Fixed that, and had a starter issue. Fired up now... :king:
|
It's making heat!!
|
Babys first breath...
|
The 56.378HR Corvette build why because they aren't working on an A/F/X body they are working on a Y body.....WHY? Because you have to be a glutton for punishment to own Americas sports car
|
I stayed up watching on my laptop last night until about 11:15 pm my time...on a school night even. This morning my wife asked me why I was so fascinated watching them...
I said "You know, they've got the best of the best in the industry there working on this thing...and to watch them go through the same types of first time fire up frustrations that any of us that have ever built a car from scratch before know first hand...it was captivating..." And it wasn't like watching a reality or horror show or anything, I truly felt for them because I have been there done that too. I was as happy as anyone for them when Smitty flicked the key and it started cranking like a normal engine. Watching them go through the thought processes of chasing down the problem...when Smitty jumped up and ran across the shop to grab a spark plug socket and ratchet and began pulling the plugs...how many of us have gone through the same types of problem solving on a new build only without a TV camera in our face and a huge countdown clock on the wall? I wanted to see them make the 48 hour clock but at the same time I liked watching that part of the build almost as much as the rest of it. Nobody got snappy, nobody pushed the cameras away, they all just dug in or rooted on those digging in until the job got done. That was pretty effing cool... |
48 Hour Corvette
Is it done????? Did they drive it in 48hrs or just start it I cannot find any video of the completed car,
Thanks |
It has certainly been entertaining. Job threatening, but entertaining. I was watching last night and my wife asked me what it was, son started watching then and I sent everyone to bed and stayed up as long as I could. Wife asked what time I came to bed, said 10:45..... she said it was like watching the eagles nest cam. I said better. she just rolled her eyes....
I didn't watch the Camaro, but I'll never miss another one. I just wish I could talk Bret into doing my Chevelle. Only him paying for it and me taking it home. Is that too much to ask? HAHA That show was just a bunch of car guys getting it. Well, extremely talented car guys. I had seen and read a bunch of post from Bret and about Bret. He seems top notch. I'll try to afford more parts from him in my build. Well worth the money when you see what he does for the community.:king: |

Hope they keep their spirits up and have lots of beer when they finish! |
Keep on it guys. I watched quite a bit of the live feed the last few days and have to say what was accomplished in the 48 hrs is amazing!
|
Hate it for the guys. Theyve busted butt. Just goes to show it can happen to anyone. awesome car. corvettes are a pain under the hood thats for sure. No where to stick everything. looks very tight, but good. Keep on going
|
They just ended the live feed without the car finished. :(

Thanks for not letting us all hang Bret. Obviously you guys are now taking the time to pay attention to the details , i think that's smart. I was dying to see a pic of the corvette on the ground. Please post some up when you have time.

Now I wished I'd taken you up on the invite to "come down"... |
Bret, I love what you guys did. I watched almost all of it and enjoyed every minute. I learned some stuff too.
You did a great job putting this on. Thanks |

Good day at the NCM track in Bowling Green. Heres a quicky...the 48 Hour Corvette got dangerously close to my C7 Z07 in autocross lap times. More agressive brake pads, a seat adjustment, and a couple tuning changes will put this car right there. Doug Flynn at Holley and Brian Mason at KY scca are absolute rockstars. Smittys driving doesn't suck either. Heres a pic we took on the road course.
|
Very nice Bret! Thanks for sharing. What does Smitty think? He like? :D
