Default I keep blowing fuses and do not know why.

I have a 68 camaro that ran fine about 6 months ago. I have had the car sitting for about 6 months now. Every time I go to start it, it blows the fuse coming off the positive battery cable. It used to do this every now and then but now its continuous. I rigged up a 50 fuse with wire and it didn't blow, but it did melt the wiring. any help would be greatly appreciated.
