I searched as many posts as I could and read about the better pinion placement of the 9 inch. I'm fully aware of the easier gear change. Just thought I'd ask guys with more knowledge on the topic than me. Thanks guys.

In all honestly... a 9" is right about 3% less efficient than that of a rear loaded differential. It's not very much and most will never see any difference... unless you are looking at squeezing that last two to three MPH out of it on the salt or 1320.
All you really need to remember, is that no matter the device or manufacturer... it is still the assembly that makes a part worth the time, money and effort. As you are doing right now... I recommend that you continue your search for knowledge and continue doing your homework... before you you pull the trigger and make a purchase. There are ALOT of options available (for both, I should add) and this is one device that need to be done right the first time around.
There is a ton of info on your quandry over on Pro-Touring and especially LS1tech.
If you find yourself without a solid direction or knowing what exactly to do... let me know.
