The C5 dual-9" booster will not bolt up to the first-gen F-body firewall without modifications to the firewall and/or the booster bracket and push rod, but it can be done. There have been a few threads here and on pro-touring.com with similar installations, both with C5/C6 boosters and 98-02 F-body boosters.

We suggest running a 15/16" to 1" bore MC with vacuum boosted applications, depending on the level of vacuum, size of the booster and pad selection to a certain extent. Single 11" and dual-8" have approximately the same effective area, but about 25% less than the dual-9" for reference.

I just got home from picking up a 02 C5 master cylinder and booster assembly.I bolted up the master to my factory booster and it looks and fits exactly the same.I am running 02 C5/C4 front brakes and LS1 rear disc setup. Can I run my factory booster with the C5 master?? Does anybody have any idea how my pedal will feel?? Do I still need to run a porportioning valve?? Is it worth the trouble to modify my firewall to install the corvette booster??
Thanks in advance.

I would like to know if this would work as well. I have thought about doing this.

Yes, you can run the C5 master cylinder with your factory booster as long as it's not one of the long push-rod versions used on some early cars. The stud spacing is the same at 3.40" and the pilot register diameters are as well at 37.5 mm [1.476"].

Assuming you're running the single-11" diaphragm booster, your pedal feel will be ~25% stiffer than a Corvette if the pedal ratios are the same, which I doubt...but that should at least get you close for comparison purposes.

We recommend running an adjustable proportioning valve in the rear circuit so that you can tweak your brake bias to match your car's setup and maximize your braking performance, not to mention allow you to compensate for changes you may make to the car in the future.

Technically, they're both push-rods, but I was referring to the one between the booster and the MC piston. The boosters with short push-rods are about flush with the master cylinder mounting surface, give or take. The long push-rod units extend outward by a little over an inch and would require a corresponding deep hole in the master cylinder piston, so there's a clear difference between the two.
