Default Color Choices.

I am at the point, were I need to start considering paint colors. I will have a few months to sit and think on it. But, I would like to secure a couple of gallons of the paint, that way, I can do little projects, and eventually, the car.

Here are my two choices.

PPG's Candy Radiant Orange Glow (some may know this car.. not sure). It will not have stripes, will have flush mounted glass, a few possible subtle carbon accents, cut & tucked front bumper with custom front valance, and fully blacked out wheels (NO CHROME/POLISH). It will look completely different from this 'Velle, except the main paint color...

OR

Solid gloss Black. Again, pure black wheels, flush mounted glass, cut & tucked front bumper with custom front valance, no stripes, and the rest from above

I don't have a pic, but one could use their imagination.

Input would be greatly appreciated. I have a few carbon fiber pieces that are planned, but I am pushing the due date for those back, because of the rust being alot worse than anticipated. Oh... yea... it will stay a '72...

It's a neat color, plenty of "pop". Just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into with a Kandy paint before you make your decision. The main considerations are the relative difficulty of application and more difficult repairability. You can find tons of info on the how's and why's of painting with and living with Kandy, if you do a little searching. -Rob

Wow, that Chevelle looks amazing. Pop might be an understatement.

That Candy orange seems to be getting played out alot everyone and there mother is driving a car with that color, sure its pretty but 20 million other people think so to! All black is aweome on Chevelles probably the only true color for it kinda like a 68-70 charger the car just dosent look good in any other color
Now beleive it or not ecs in the hot rod seen orginal style colors are making a huge come back might be a consideration !

The car is originally a Burnt Orange (Flame Orange Metallic) from the factory...

That's why I guess I am more partial to the orange. But, as you said, you can't go wrong with black on a chevelle. But then again, everyone has black... But then again, I have seen tons of burnt orange. But they have all been more powler orange. Not really like this, I guess.

yeah really, if you like the color who cares that the next guy 300 miles away has the same color as you. If you went with an OE color and this OE color thing took off like G-Body said, then what? I say just put a different spin on it. Take from it what you like and add your own personal touch to it. Whether, it be stripes, no stripes, no candy, a different shade, a mural, paint it black and put a orange glow strip on it. Whatever. You will have to look at it day in and day out. Not us.
