No, on the student Visa's idea. Its like anything else, If criminals want to do something they will find a way. Don't put restrictions on honest people and deprive this country of its ability to expand minds.

I think there will be a need for appologies after the truth come out.

I know the whole visa it's not by any means the right measure and will never happen but if just seems like every time something like this happens it was a student on a foreign visa. Its tough job to be politically correct and take on an issue such is this. I love that this country welcomes all and is what makes us strong.
There are always nut cases out there ( Connecticut , Colorado theater , mcveigh ) that will find a way. it's just happening more often than ever. Any small measure is another step in the right direction.
I'm personally not US born but now a US citizen, been through the profiling etc side if it. on a recent trip I was stopped three different times during my trip and pretty much stripped searched. I was completely ok with it I see the big picture.
If people really want positive results, they are going to have to tolerate profiling and some door kicking. Americans don't want that though and say it's not fair.
X2 on that
There is no right measure or easy answer to this problem, as far as security nothing is 100% But I would agree more is better.
