Default New to Forum - my projects

Hi - My name is Peter Jennings and I've been bulding my current car for the last two years. It will hopefully be done by the middle of next year.

It is a 1980 Opel Manta (german car) and features a full tube chassis with a blown and injected 502BBC engine, TH400, 35 spline 9" ford, 3.5" & 14"x15" aluma stars etc etc. This car is going to be fully street legal and will be driven all over the UK and europe (even if petrol is $8 a gallon over here). Here are a couple of mid-build pics and one thats been photoshopped to give an idea of what it will be like (but not in red primer)

The other car (black one) is a 1972 Opel Manta that I built. Its been coverted to a modern fuel injected 4 cylinder engine with 5 speed box, but has been converted to 5 stud bolt pattern so I could fit halibrand rims and retains the retro look.

I know - but I'm determined to get it completed.

The black manta is about as low as it can go at the moment. Once I've finished the red one I'm going to redo the black one. I am going to make a new exhaust to get better ground clearance then lower it so I lose it all
The only way I can lower the front is to narrow the suspension which is something I might look into. The rear tyres rub the arches slightly if I have four people in it so in order to solve this I think I'll take the rear seats out

At the moment I have a hankering to build a manta rally car like the one in the pic. Would be great to have one of these in Canada in the winter

Great projects! I love the Manta body style. The only problem is that the put the steering wheel on the wrong side

Actually that is where you are wrong
The majority of these cars were sold in germany so are left hand drive. Be great to have one of these in the states as they are so unusual

I love it. The sunroof is a nice touch. We have been sending a fair amount of bits to the UK. Seems like Hot Rodding is alive and well over there.
