Mini tubs or add metal

So I found a local fab guy that is going to help me with the rust issues on my nova, and since it needs 1/4 skins anyway, I decided to mini tub it. I was going to get the dse tubs, but he suggested just splitting the wheel wells and adding metal to extend the tubs. I don't want a 13" wide wheel, but he says I can fit a 10" wide easy which is fine with me. So my ? is this: which is the better way to go, dse deep tubs or fab up my own? Thanks guys, hopefully I'll be posting up pics of some progress real soon, were gonna start on it this week!
