Guy's bought a set of chrome 17x11 with 6in backspacing torque thrust off of ebay for a real good deal,but the backspacing is a little closer than i thought it would be,basically the outside of the wheel is just about flush with the inside of the quarter panel,my lips have been rolled but I can see some rubbing issues fixing to happen even though I don't have the tires mounted which i havent ordered yet because i wanted to run 335's and there kind of pricey.Ok here's the question i noticed that the hub on these are pretty thick and was wondeeing if i might could machine off a little bit on the inside of the wheel,maybe a 1/8 or so,it would still be close but I think it would work,has anyone done this and if so who did it for ya,there's a local machine shop here in town that might could do it but they may also scratch the hell out of the wheels.BTW the car is a 69 camaro,mini tubed,G-linked,9in,and just some basic disc brakes.Just wanted to run it by yall before i put the wheels back up for sale.Also if i get this worked out what backspacing do i need for the front with either a 17x7 or 17x8 with disc brakes.I probably should have included the width of the rear end but for some dam reason i cant remember it but will check it tomorrow.Thanks everybody!
17x11 with 6" backspace will not work unless you keep the rear high. You will also have issues with rubbing your inside panel when entering driveways at an angle.
17x9.5 with 5.5" back space works best without mini-tubbing.
I just mocked up an 18x10.5 vette wheel with a 325 that will be just as wide as my Toyo 315's and I had to custom mini-tub 1 1/2"s on each side. This left me with 1/2" clearance to the un-relocated leaf spring and about the same to the quarter panel with rolled lips. Backspacing on the wheel was 8" and I added a 1 1/2" hubcentric spacer so that makes it 6 1/2" back space with mini-tubs.

Yup, Track Junky is totally right, that's unfortunately not going to fit, unless you go 1985 with air shock and jack the ass end up in the air...
17x9.5s with a 275/40/17 are the accepted fit for a stock wheel tub first gen. You'll also notice a lot of option in 17x9's in the one piece wheel market, which also work well, with the same tire. Check out our site for some options.
Guy's thanks for the replies,and i understand what yall are saying,but the car is mini tubed and also has a G-link,I'm running some custom built 15x12 corvette rally wheels right now with 295/55/15 and 5.5 backspacing and have plenty of room on the inside and about a 1/4in to the inside of the fender lip,any body want to buy some torque thrust? Unfortunately A/R does not re-hoop wheels anymore. Something that has changed since the buy out by Wheel Pros.
You might contact Pro-Wheels, and ask if they'll do it for you. I've used them to rehoop some two piece wheels in the past where they are sometimes cheaper, and faster then the actual manufacturer.
