Hotchkis spring question

Anybody out there running the Hotchkis 3" drop leaf spring?

I just installed them on my 69 Camaro and noticed that Hotchkis only makes a 2" drop coil spring for big block cars. Any idea why? Does the 2" front coil make the car level with a 3" drop leaf?

If anybody is running the 3" drop leafs on a big block car, what spring are you using on the front to get the car level? Thanks!

Running 3" drop in the rear and 2" in front with a big block in my 69 Camaro.

MRR1999 - We never tested 3” drop coil springs on a full weighted (with cast-iron heads) big block first gen Camaro.

If you’re running a big block first gen Camaro with aluminum heads you could use the 3” drop small block coil springs. As far as being level, every car is a little different depending on A/C, automatic or manual trans, steel of fiberglass hood, battery in front or trunk, overall tire diameter, etc. We typically get level ride height with 3” front springs and 3” leaf springs, but like we stated there are many factors to being completely level.

Thanks for the info. It's a tough decision to make...

Thinking worse case scenario, what would be worse:

1. having to cut a coil out of a 2" drop big block spring

or

2. Use a 3" small block spring (on a big block car) with cast iron heads and a steel hood

Anybody have insight on which to buy and take a gamble with?

I'd do the BB coils, and cut them to get the stance you want.

I have the BB coils and I will cut the coils to get exact height also.

I agree, small block coils with an all iron big block may cause bottoming out and a ride height that is to low to start with. Cutting springs is a pain in the ass but the best route here.
