Default Getting it on the ground..

Guys,

only my second post here so i apologise if i've missed anything!

I have ordered some American racing T71r's for my 68 camaro. These are 17x8 on the rear as I have had rubbing issues and am running a stock tub with a 2 inch drop. I will most likely shod these in 9 inch tire.

However, I am potentially look to procharge my 383 stroker to the tune of around 500 - 600 bhp next year.

I am going to have trouble getting that power on the ground running a 9 inch tire?

cheers

Jonny

Jonny,

Yes, you'll have issues getting it to the ground if you raise the hp level that much.

Have you thought about putting the wheel order on hold?

I have thought about it, however, i was under the impression that I'd most likely need to mini-tub to fit anything bigger anyway? Which over in the UK, along with all the associated costs etc would cost me around $9,000 all told

After hearing this procharger equipped beast a few times

...I can see the appeal in adding that brand supercharger to your 383.

A few suggestions ... maybe some of them will help.

With a confidence to pick up new skills over time during your build, perhaps you could find a hobbyist who has done this mod to their own car that would be willing to share their time and knowledge with you.

If that doesn't pan out, reference a good fabricator that will work within your budget. That and take added time till your find that parts you need at YOUR price.

You know the old saying, 'Where there's a will, there's a way.'

I have the T70R 17x9 5.5" bs with stock tubs and 2" drop springs. No rubbing issues whatsoever. 255/45 tires. There's probably another 1" clearance between the tub and inside tire.
