69 camaro suspension list.

So a friend of mine wants to do a complete suspension build on his 69. Im trying to come up with a parts list for the budget he has. Car will never see an autocross as we dont have any here in South TX. Mainly cruising. Being realistic as we know it will never beat ZO6 but would luv for it to ride like a new car and handle well.

Here are my thoughts.
Ridetech NA coilovers with strong arms.
Hellwig sway bar.
Hotchkis Leafs
Ridetech Q series shocks for the rear or hotchkis by Fox shocks.
New tie rods and body bushings.

What do you all think?

That setup seems pretty reasonable for a street-only fun car. I've got the Hotchkis coils and leafs and was shocked at how comfortable they are - the leafs seem better-riding than the stock monoleaf on my '68 Camaro.

You didn't say how much sweat equity you are willing to put in. I think mini-tubs are great bang for the buck. They don't cost much, but you have to work hard to get them put in. You could still use leaf spring with offset shackles, and then tire choices open up a little more. But it could snowball from there!

Trying to keep it simple but update everything. Budget is right under 3G and trying to save some cash for the unexpected. Just want to make sure that these components would be a good fit for the budget.

I am in the same boat with a '67. Looked all over the 'net for direction and finally called Marcus at SC&C. Best thing I have done yet with this build. I recommend doing the same, but be sure to budget plenty of time for the call. Also, his book is very helpful. Matt

Good idea. I'll give him a call on Monday. We are working with a $2,500 budget for the suspension and then we will move onto brakes. Probably C6 from Kore3 as I have that in my 73 and couldn't be happier.
