Default to name or not to name?

Hey guys, I'm struggling with the idea of "naming" my car. I thought I would throw it out there and get some feedback. I was just going to do it and not say anything, but I just don't know if it's something I want or not. The name that I am thinking is "TECH-9". I came up with this from the people involved in the car. Katech,Speartech,Azentek,Jimtech and there's probably a couple other "techs" that will pop up before it's finished. The 9 should be pretty obvious to all of you (I hope). I ran it by Trush and he said go with it, So now I really don't know what to do. Anyway, give me some thoughts, good, bad, stupid, corny, whatever. I was thinking of having it stitched in the seatbacks and there waiting on the go ahead from me. Also a custom billet emblem for the tail panel and that's about it. Thanks for any help.

I've never been one to name a car, BUT, if a car is going to get a lot of Media coverage and sponsors, then I think it's a good idea. It's a marketing thing. I've tossed it around and I wanted something that would tie into Lateral-g, my name, etc, and came up with g69. I registered the domain name g69Camaro.com.

As for Tech 9.... Ever heard of Tech 9, the band? They sing Slacker. Great song. Check it out.

I've never been one to name my cars either, but the whole media thing is definately part of the reason for doing it. I think the mags like that kind of stuff. My future of buying/selling/building cars like this could always benefit from some magazine coverage. This is still first a hobby to me and I hope people don't think I'm just in it for the money because this hobby is truely a sick passion in my life. But you need to make money to do this stuff, and I really enjoy the buying and selling part of it. If I can make a little more from some media coverage then I can spend more on the next project. That's what keeps us all working isn't it? Oh yeah, I've heard of the band Tech-9 and also the macine gun "TEK9". Thought that was kind of cool actually. Thanks for the feedback Scott.

Just keep in mind that Tec-9's were the guns that got their notoriety by being used by gang bangers... Obviously no relation to your car but just FYI!

^ was thinking the same thing..

i think naming a car has the same effect as naming a ship.. i think its pretty personal between the captain and ship. so why not car and driver?

besides.. anyone can have a "camaro" or whatever but with the time, love and modifications put into "your" ride then it doesnt qualify as the next guys "camaro" anymore.. in which a name is suitable.

and my cars name was derived from the spiderman character.. the two have similar qualities..

I would have to agree with others, that if the car is going to get some PR a name is a good idea. Shows like Rides and Overhaulin have really brought cars to the general public and with that the PR. In that case a name is cool, but if your calling your beat up 75 nova by a name people my look at you funny.

I personally never named my car because for me, it would be a little over the top. It already has a name... Chevelle.
