Default What's an original '68 GT-500 FB Mustang worth?

Hey guys, I have just sourced out an ORIGINAL #'s matching '68 GT-500 Mustang Fastback locally. It's a numbers match car (orig 428 motor & tranny) and the owner is the 3rd owner had it since 1980. It was repainted in '83. Color is red with white stripes. It's non restored and currently a driver. No major rust from speaking with him.

What's this car worth in as is condition and what is worth restored?

That is the million dollar question, it will depend on the rust and how beat the car is. Is the numbers matching engine with the car, is eveything on the car on the build sheet? There is really no way to tell any of this if they do not have the build sheet that came with the car and if they do that will make the car worth more. The car un restored can be worth anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 for numbers matching, I actually have a numbers matching 66 that the guy paid around $30,000 for and we are doing a full on $100,000++ rebuild pro touring style car.

When they are fixed up correctly they can be worth what ever someone will pay, that is the key question to all the cars built here. I have seen them anywhere from $50,000 to $200,000 if they are perfect. I would say if you build the car right and have the original engine and build sheet for the right person you will pull good money for it.

I hope this helps you out with your decision and if you end up not buying the car let us know I have someone looking for one right now.
