The kit was delivered today so of course I had to dive right in and install it!

The install went very smoothly and the instructions were VERY thurough. This rack weighs way less than the stock gear and gives a lot more clearance for headers. And it actually doesn't hang below the frame's main x-member...very good and tight packaging!! The steering arms bolted right up and clear my 17x8 wheels w/ 5" b.s. no problem. The wheels at full lock come closer to the frame now...therefore allowing for tighter turns!! I also bought the steering shaft kit, but have to wait to get an Ididit column before I install that. It cleared a standard oil pan that came with my crate motor...I'll be ordering a new road race pan soon though. You will see there is plenty of ground clearance and my car is lowered a good 2.5-3"!!

BTW, the final pic shows the actual ride height with the tie rod level to the ground. Unisteer told me if I have any bump steer issues, due to my car being lowered more than 2", to use Baer's Trackers, they will allow for the needed adjustment...but they honestly didn't foresee any issues.

Cool Tony..... That looks like a relatively straight forward install. Have you been able to get any feed back from anyone that has driven a car with an installed kit yet?

I know you have a lot of new parts on hand, so keep us updated!

I think I'm the first one that got in on the GP to install one..so no, no feedback yet...but anxiously awaiting!!

I'm interested, too. Do you guys have any knowledge of bump steer issues and how this kit compares to a stock steering setup?

I'm also interested in the packaging and how much space it uses compared to a steering box. Space there is at a premium with the turbos and I'm looking at all options.

Scott, they claim this kit to have 'no' bump steer, although that's not really possible...barely any I would say. All cars have a small amount built in...but barely readable...I think that's what they meant to say. When I emailed them prior to placing my order, they told me there would not be any b/s on a car lowered up to 2"...after that you may need to use the Baer Trackers. I'll try to mock up the steering shaft to give you a better idea of space required and to help compared to a stock box/components. Here's a link for more info.

Scott I just added a few more pics with the shaft mocked up (most on page 12). I didn't want to pound it onto the rack all the way though as this is only pre assembly. Once it's completely bottomed out it will sit about an inch lower on that end as well as at the colum once cut to proper length. They sell a column adaptor that allows you to use a u-joint on a stock column...I'm ordering an Ididit column so the adaptor isn't needed as the new column is already splined for a u-joint. If packaging it w/ the turbos is an issue you could always add a 3rd u-joint.

Cool, Tony, that's so very tempting! It looks like it really opens up the area where the steering box sits.

Ok, I'll ask. What is "bump steer?" Help. Thanx! I see the term a lot. How do you get it? How do you get rid of it?

Anthony- I think you might have reached your bandwidth limit (or my IE limit); I can't get your page to load up. I'm trying to get a few pics of the intermediate shaft & it's routing. I need to make room for my turbo over there & am wondering if this might give me more room to play with. My intake and exhaust are both on the driver's side... hence the need for more room.
