350 Vortec (engine code R) mods

I will be putting a 97 350 vortec in my car and was wondering if anyone has some tricks up their sleeves to crank up the ponies.I will be using a carb and installing an LT1 6spd behind it.Any suggestions would be welcome.

383ci's, 9.0.1 comp, and put a procharger on it

Edelbrock makes a nice E-tec head for the vortec stuff and eagle makes everything you'll need for the bottm end and pistons are easy, Je has those to.

I have one of these with very low miles, and I'm planning on building it pretty much like the one in that article. My present 406 is worn out, so I'll throw one of these together while I decide on building a better 406, or moving on to an LS based engine.

Unfortunately, L31 blocks are not machined for mechanical fuel pumps, so you'll need to set up an electric one if you haven't already.
