Default New Member - Project Flyin' Blind

I finally got around to registering on here. I have been a member over at PT.com for awhile now and looked around on here, but now it's official.

I just named my project recently (thanks Mark "Astroracer") Project Flyin' Blind, since I am an ex-Navy pilot but I sustained a torn optic nerve injury when I was working under my Camaro and I slid out and accidentally kicked my shelves and knocked off a bottle of degreaser, impact and chemical burn to the eye socket and now I don't fly anymore. I do still have my car though.

She has been in the project stages for about 7 years now, with no end in sight, that was until I finally took the plunge recently and contacted Frank at Prodigy https://lateral-g.net/forums/imag...s/biggrin1.gif
and we have been working out the details of taking over Project Flyin' Blind and really going the PT route. Thanks to teh good folks at DS&E and Jabin at Marquez design I had made a bunch of great upgrades. I had upgraded the suspension with lots of Hotchkis, QA1, Global West, etc... and the brakes with a 13"/12" Baer Track, a Moser 12 bolt and lots of nice DS&E goodies... but the true PT stuff was avoided due to price and my limited abilities at this point.

So hopefully in the near future Prodigy will have Flyin' Blind in some stage of disassembly to install a DS&E minitub kit, DS&E subframe and DS&E subframe connectors, then add in a G-bar narrowed rear, Forgeline SP3P wheels with custom powder-coated body color centers, possibly Wilwood 6 piston 14" front and 13" rear brakes, a TKO600, and a custom carbon fiber center console (this will be the heat!). https://lateral-g.net/forums/imag...illy_nilly.gif

I am debating the whole plunge for an LS7, but I am not in a position where I can do that right now, if anyone knows where I can find a low mile rear-ended C6 (hahaha)https://lateral-g.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif

Kris Horton has been brought on for a rendering, so as soon as I get around to sending him some cash, (soon Kris, I promise) I will start posting what he comes up with, it is sure to be excellent judging by his past work! https://lateral-g.net/forums/images/smilies/hail.gif

I am selling a bunch of the parts that I originally put on her that have seen less than 400 miles of around the neighborhood and weekend around town trips, haven't even broken in the motor yet so she hasn't been abused at all. These are listed on PT.com in the for sale section, just do a search for project flyin' blind and you'll see what is up for grabs.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all at this years SEMA and maybe even part of he power tour... I have missed them all before because of deployments so now I am trying to make up for that.

So here are a few pictures of Project Flyin' Blind in her current state... just wait until she is done!

Default I hate to hear

about your accident. As dangerous as it is being a Navy pilot and to have something so silly end you flying career....well not silly when it happened but you know what I mean.

Thanks for serving out country.

Looks like the plans for one bad ass ride. I cannot wait to see it develope. Hang out over at wwwls1tech.com I am sure you can come up with a motor over there.

Thanks for the sentiments, it really did hurt coming out of the cockpit, I had been flying for 9 years at that point and I was committed to making it my career, as it turns out, almost 4 years now after the accident I may be forced out of active duty anyway and into the reserves. So my professional life is changing rapidly.

My build is also changing rapidly. I am trying to completely revamp the direction of this Camaro, from a "nice" cruiser to a seriously mean pro-touring, g-machine! I am sure that with the help of guys like Kris and Frank with their abilites, the vision I have in my mind is bound to become a reality.

Rest assured I will be serving in some capacity still, as all of my deployments have only reinforced my desire to serve, not the other way around. Thanks for the support.

Regards, George

George it sounds like you are very deserving and Frank will look out for your best interest. Look forward to seeing your project progress.

Hey there Fly Boy welcome to the board.

Always good to see another 67 around here. Even better to see one owned by a fellow Aviator! Frank will take good care of you and I'm looking forward to following the transformation as it progresses, so keep me informed.

Sorry to hear about the early retirement. But hey at least you don't have to worry about the sparkler one arrival anymore. Maybe we can get you in the 757 SIM next time I'm up for a recurrent ride. It ain't a fighter, but it don't suck either.
