With all the talk about the Top-5 (Who won, rules, all Camaros, who got snubbed; etc. and so on), it seems a very good show and some awesome cars were pushed to the back page.

Thanks to some quality camera work by our friend Marty I have come up with some topics that maybe we should explore further.

1. (This one is minor to satisfy my own curiosity) Wasn't this 57 in Rad Rides shop a while back getting a wicked tube frame done for it?




2. In other Rad Rides news. Man this 56 Chrysler chassis is so sick! It looks like they extruded it out of molten steel! I could look at it all day. Im shocked no one has mentioned it.



3. Finally, this monster of a vehicle (I don't know what it is) is revolting and cool all wrapped up together. Anyone got any more info on it? Did it run better than it looked on the course? Or did it just look all business?

Yeah that frame was one sweet piece of work. If you were there and didn't see that, you missed out. Can't wait to see that car done!

The 3rd car in question was in the running for SMOY but started smoking on the drive to the autocross track. I think he got 1 lap in and called it quits. The whole body was aluminum, and I'm not even sure what it was. It wasn't really my cup of tea so I didn't do to much investigating. I think it was a Ford of some sort. The fact that it was a Ford probably had something to do with why I didn't pay much attention.

Agreed there was some very cool stuff there and the third in question a 1962 Ford Falcon would have done some hell on the track if it was running right. At the last minute he had all kinds of engine problems and tried one lap but did not want to do any serious damage so pulled out.

Overall the show was killer and the cars that came out made it that much better. I have a ton more pics that I will try to post up incase you missed any of the cars.

Too bad it had to pull out. Anyone talk to the owner? Why did they round out the rear window and trunk like that? I appreciate the theme in using the Indy cammer and deleting the interior. But I don't understand the rear treatment. I think it ruined an otherwise nasty machine. Someone enlighten me.

Was it rear engine, if so maybe that's why?

Wasn't that chyrsler chassis on here on V8tv or something? That video came no where near doing that thing justice. Sick!

Now they just have to make a polycarbonate body to show it off.

You're right... when we shot it the body was in place and it was pretty obscured. The chassis is insane... I'm glad it was outside in the open to see. It's insane!

I don't know if the builder knew about it but back in the early 60's ford and HM teamed up to build a few[less than 5] of those falcons with that fastback style.they were used to the racing[rallying] down in South america and a little in Mexico.Similar to the Mexican Shelby's.There are a few and I mean a few pics of the original cars floating around on the web. All were 289hp cars.I did know of one for sale about 5 years ago.And have actually seen one in person at one of the events I do.A very rare ford oddity.Stan

OK I knew there had to be something behind the style. Not my type of party but hey if they can supercharge a rolls royce they can make a falcon fastback.

Word is that the builder of that Falcon was part of the Holman Moody team and had the original bluprints for those cars. He built this one from those plans. He did not have the engine tuned completely yet.

Jeff Schwartz has the full story on the Falcon as he has spent a fair amount of time talking with the builder.

The Chrysler chassis is for a guy in the Milwaukee area and is listed as his wife's car. I told Troy it was too pretty to cover up. He said that is why he convinced the owner to let him cart it around to some shows this summer. This is the same customer that Troy built the gray 32 for a few years ago.
