why not a holley single plane intake setup? similar to what don hardy uses on his LS engines? I'm curious why it isn't more popular on retro builds

I really tried to find that too as I want to run the old school look with my LSX 454, I have been kicking around this:

The height is a challenge, probably 11 inches from the deck of the motor, which I am not sure will fit even with the 2 inch cowl hood.

If you find someone that will do the custom version with the stock intake like the photo, then count me in for one too.

Is that to adapt your current throttle body?
I just looked, there's a lot less options for the LS7 unfortuneately, I think the height of the setup you're suggesting will be around 9" for an LS3. If I go this route I'll be using this.

If I had built an LS engine, I would have done this to keep my shaker functional and looking correct. I tried to do this for my LT but no one modifies the intakes any more for port EFI. Port EFI is the only way I'd do a carb style intake on top of a modern motor.
