Default Where to run all the stuff

Hi guys! I wasn't sure where to put this thread so i thought the open discussion would be a safe bet. I was curious for those who have built custom frames for there cars and trucks where do you run all the wires and stuff. I am talking about the electrical, air ride tubing, brake lines, fuel lines and anything else i am forgetting. I can't think of any clean and sweet way to run it all and still work good. I would prefer not to see any of the wires or hoses but I don't think that is possible. Any pics or comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks alot

Josh

If you want to hide all of that, you're best bet would be have a couple runs of conduit (for the lack of a better term) from the front to the rear. With a couple of 1" runs, all the wiring and brake and air ride plumbing could be contained inside of it. You could paint it to match the bottom of the car... or run it up in the tunnel... or, if you have a full console tha runs from the dash to the back seat, it could be inside the car.

Just a thought, I recently looked at a car that was done that way and it looked good.

You could do the obvious and run the wires and such through the frame. But why not hard line the air and fuel and route the wiring so clean it look great. We make special line clamps for our tube frame to hold brake and fuel lines, and incorporate them in the design. I'm gonna buy the high end hose crimper from XRP just to do the air and fuel lines in the green kevlar hose. That stuff is bitchin. There are some really bitchin place to get cool wiring and fittings from.

On the bed of the C6-57 we made the side panels out of 1.5" tubing and put outside sheet on there to hide the actuators in the bed and route the wiring for them and the taillights inside it.

Yep...The Ring brothers have done this on a few projects, notably on Reactor, they used simple electrical conduit (galvanized thinwall seam welded steel tubing) bent to follow the contours of the trans tunnel, one on each side, allowing them to run the fuel feed and return lines through each of the conduits. They then used the two tubes as a base from which to construct / integrate their center console....There are pics of it in the Reactor build book...Neat.
