no more trying to make what can out of what i have either with the car or the money i have .

im not going to be pretending this car is something that its not . i know what really should be done to be true to who i am and what i originally wanted from this build .
im just not a pretender.

You are the one in the trenches. I won't sit here cheering you on to continue. If you want to change directions, as many of us have, rock on. If it makes you happy I say go for it. I would be excited for you when the project is done no matter what kind of car it is. Good luck, next time I'm at DSE maybe we can hook up. DO WORK SON.

Do you plan to move the parts over to a differant car? You have a lot of nice parts....perhaps the Rambler was just to big of a challenge?

i have some cool ideas but cool ideas dont build a car.
i had great intentions with my build but at times lacked the knowledge or money power to know what i was going to really be up against.
this site is a huge reason i even attempted this .
i have learned alot through this process.
i have tested my abilities heavily trying to do this kind of car build
i have found my limitation also.
one thing i learned is beware of buddy deals.i have been put into a position on this project because of those buddy deals.where i thought wow i can get this from that and it will only cost this.only to find out later that because of my lack of knowledge and or lack of input on things i ended up with more hurdles to jump than i intended and also ended up cutting the car up more than i had originally wanted .i just kept pressing on because i had commited myself to building this car even though some things didnt go exactly like i had intended. i kept telling myself i can fab this or that and it will be ok.
not true.great sheetmetal fab is alot more involved than i wanted to believe.i did some fab work that is ok and some im not satisified with.its all about the fab work on these types of builds in my opinion.it either makes the car great or its doesnt. because of my lack of tools and knowledge its is what it is .the more i look at it the more im not happy with it and i cant keep dragging this project on redoing things.( when you see what some guys do with metal and tools its art)
life is all about learning and if you dont try youll never learn...
so i have learned alot and im happy about that.
im not done with the car thing by any means....i have to put these parts on something .my wife will kill me if i dont get this collection of part put on something .never rule out another rambler

I say save up some money and send the car to Bruning Auto Design or maybe someone close like Prodigy and get some of the hard stuff done.
then tackle the rest at your own pace.

Tom, I've sold projects before they were done, changed courses more than once............ and struggled through and finished some frustrating projects. Whatever you decide to do I support your decision, only you know what's right for you. I do know that taking a break can give a different perspective on things, and would recommend you at least do that. Whatever you choose to do, keep us in the loop and the best of luck.

I agree with Jody. Maybe just finding a nice cool place that is protected from the weather, putting it up on jackstands and covering it up until you have moved past this phase might help. The money is spent, you have the killer parts and idea, plenty of support here (we believe in ya man!). Maybe just some time out will help. Having said that, if you decide to move on to something else, we are all cool with it. Just don't stop hanging out here.

I agree with the others, dont sell the car. Put is aside, take a break or a breather. Save up some money and get a shop to finish the body work. Repairing a damaged body is the worst part of the build.

I say take a break and come back to it later. Dont end it now.

i took a day off from the car after my post.thought and talked with my wife,some friends from the web , etc....
my wife laughed and said you just wanted to vent and get everyone to tell you dont give up..no thats not it.
maybe i think i to be have to be (dan h.) when i fab something.for those who dont know him he is a metal magician works for DSE now.after seeing his work, it makes me realize how much skill i dont have. frustrating but true.
i think i have put so much pressure on myself with this build . it had become more than just a car build.the fun was kinda lost because
i have an opportunity to put this thing in front of some people and maybe make more out of this than just a hobby. so i am trying hard to make something outa a "nothing" car...this has been in the works for a while.
i just didnt want to make my posting about that .it may or may not result in what i want but i have been working torward that with this car since i started back on the project. that and the fact i dont wanna waste time on a part of the car i dont feel i have the talent to make correct and it bring the overall car down.
so i talked with my resto shop friend today and figured out what it will take to get him to do it (wasnt looking like he wanted to do it ) come to find out he was trying to save me money.he tells me ive done good work with the rest of the body work so far so why not do the qtr myself.ah, im not that comfortable with it. so i have to figure out what i want to do.
ive attached older pics of the qtr problems i hope you can see what im up against .ive already done some work on evening out some highs and lows but it gives you an idea of the compound issue (body line,qtr shape etc) .
sorry for the long winded post .just wanted to explain my frustration
